So i posted this in the pregnancy boards but it might be better suited here…
Hi ladies, so my best friend is getting married at the end of September in which I will be 6 months pregnant. Here’s my problem. I received my bridesmaids dress for this wedding in early April. I am nervous because the dress fits perfectly Right now. I know in September it will be way too small. The dress is Amsale G763C in the color dove. I tried googling it to see if its available in a maternity fit and it is not.
I obvioiusly need to talk to the bride about this situation. I am first going to offer to step down in case she doesnt want a preggo Bridesmaid or Best Man (but she is my best friend so i dont see her wanting me to step down).
Have you ever just ordered a Bridesmaid or Best Man dress in a couple sizes larger to accomodate your growth? Then have it altered?
Im nervous if I go this route it wont be long enough as its perfect length right now. Im also nervous the top might be too tight and constricting.
Should I order the maternity style of Amsale dress that is similar then see if a seamtress can add the strap and little peplum thing to make it look the rest of the girls? (After talking to the bride obviously).
have you ever been a pregnant Bridesmaid or Best Man did it affect your dress?
Any feedback would be appreciated! Thanks!

My friend’s cousin in one wedding, and sister in another wedding I was in were 8months pregnant and bridesmaids. i would go to the bridal shop and ask for their advice. In both weddings, they ordered the same dress several sizes larger (based on recommendation of the shop) and had them altered to it right before the wedding. Typically, the alterations will require some changes to the bust area too since there will be wider fabric there which might be too much for you. The dress in one wedding was very similar to your dress. unfortunately, it looks like you’ll have to buy another dress. I’d suggest waiting until the last minute possible to order so you can be measured as close to your size as possible with time for alterations.

@reebs83: thank you for the reply! Super helpful info. The dresses were ordered from nordstrom and they have an awesome return policy so returning the first dress shouldnt be an issue. I will see what they suggest after talking to the bride. Thank you for hr congrats! I am super excited! 🙂

I’m confused why you think it won’t be long enough or too tight on top if you’re ordering sizes up.

@Cory_loves_this_girl: the top has no stretch to it at all. Right now i am a D cup and who knows how big my boobs will be in September!! As for length im assuming my belly will be pretty big by 6 months so the front of the dress would be shorter than the back.
