Is this the ring he is having made? I think its beautiful. But if its not to your taste I would say something ASAP before its too late to make changes.

blasian84 :  um, that ring is freaking gorg!! Do you like the look of the ring? Are you just nervous because you’ve not been able to see it in person and try it on?

blasian84 :  That’s insanely beautiful!! Is it going to be a Moissanite or diamond or another stone? 😍

How did he know what kind of ring ? Did you ever discuss this or is this totally spontaneous ?

blasian84 :  I love old cuts but it’s a very personal preference. Definitely look up the cut. It has chunky facets and throws beautiful colours and lights. Do you know if this will be a diamond or moissanite? Also, is it the exact same as the picture you posted?

Honestly, old cuts are the bee’s knees. A good chunky old cut (OEC/OMC) around the L colour grade in a simple but modern setting (like bezel) would be my dream do over.

I’m totally jealous!!

if you head over to Pricescope you’ll be able to see some amazing pieces. if you decide it’s not for you, better to speak up now. If you don’t like it as a ring you could turn it into a necklace.

Your husband wants to do something nice for you, let him.  And from the looks of things, it’s going to turn out amazing!!!

I am in love with Old Mine Cuts! I wanted one for my E ring but it didn’t work out that way so I am hoping maybe a wedding or anniversary band.

They have a lot of OMC’s and OEC’s https://www.victorbarbone.com/

Ring concierge uses those type as well and they can be more expensive because they are rare!

blasian84 :  This is a very bizarre and irrational way of thinking. It must be so hard to be anxious about a ring/stone that you can presumably choose to change that you can’t even bring yourself to research it and figure out if you like it. I sincerely hope you can talk to someone about this.

I’m confused. Is the photo you posted the actual ring itself, or are you having one made in that style? So far as being afraid of OMC diamonds, there are a ton of photos out there that show what they look like in great detail. Plus, haven’t you seen photos or video of the stone you’re using? If not, why not?

GIA graded OMC :

It’s not terrible. The stone in the photo you posted looks more like an August Vintage type cushion, which takes its design from the OMC.

My solitaire is OEC and I had never heard of that before I started shopping for my ering.  I absolutely love it.  It has chunky facets and it is so unique and beautiful.

I think the ring you posted is gorgeous.
