To be honest, I think it will clash as well. Your venue is very unique and you should roll with that. You could easily go with movie or theatre theme that would be more fitting for your venue. If I was one of your guests I would probably be kind of confused when I came to this awesome venue and we were made to feel that we were on the beach somewhere.

Its your wedding and you need to do what you love but thats just my honest opinion.

Yeah I agree.  As I was reading your post and the description of the building/venue, ONE TRILLION exciting ideas came to mind and beach wasn’t one of them.

**DISCLAIMER** it’s Y.O.U.R. wedding and if you want to have a beach themed wedding in a theater glam venue, DO IT!!!!  Don’t leave out anything that you will later be wishing you had done.

I agree with Caitmarie, your theme seems to be fighting with your venue. As a guest I would be confused.

I agree with the PPs.  When you described your venue, i thought glamorous, 1920s, old hollywood, art deco, sparkle, champagne saucers, feathers, etc.  I think that although the ocean theme is personal and refelcts who you are as a couple, you could be fighting the venue a bit.  I think it’s easier to work with what you have, but, of course, if you really want a beachy theme, you should go with what you want.

@simplifiedbride: Good choice of words “work with what you have”.

I’m thinking, fighting with the style of the venue might cost more money than utilizing some of the features the building already has.  Most likely it’d be more economical to have a Hollywood style wedding in a theater than to transform a theater into the beach and make it believable.  Just something else to consider…

@miss_scarlet: Lots of pics came up for me from the link.  Is your space the one entitled “Roper Garden Ballroom”?

I think your theme will clash with the setting.  Sorry!  I don’t see why you have to have a theme though.  If you don’t  like the red/gold “hollywood” colors then just pick the colors that you like. Pick some nice centerpieces with some pretty flowers or candles in your colors to set it off.  You venue looks like it’s a good blank state, plus I love the look of the lit columns, so with tables, chairs, and centerpieces in place it will be fabulous no matter what.

I’m not a fan of the red/gold typical hollywood look, either.  What I was thinking of  was more like blues, silvers, whites, metallics… think the great gatsby, old money glamour, not movie theater kitsch.
