I am going to have an intimate wedding ceremony but it is really hard to find a location in LA…
Since I want to have a garden wedding, I checked out this venue last weekend. It’s called “A Chair in the Garden” in Altadena…The wedding package for less than 15 guests = $800 dollars
The garden look nice (a private garden in the Officiant house). I want to explore some more options.
I have been searching on the internet for almost two weeks…Here are some of my research:
1. Arcadia Arboretum – $500. But I need to find an officiant and rent the chairs …
2. Cal State Fullerton Garden- Too expensive..will cost more than 1,000
3. James Irvine Japanese Garden in Little Toyko- Too expensive too…
Could anyone think of any other locations?
Here are some facts:
1. Guest will be no more than 20, so a big venue is not suitable..
2. Want a outdoor setting in a garden in the morning.
3. The dinner reception is at Mission261 in San Gaberial. So I prefer the ceremony location is in LA area…
Sorry about the long post…any suggestions are appreciated!

First off, go Bruins!!
Have you looked into Descanso Gardens? You can also try state parks and city parks. We’re getting married at a state park in Culver City, and the ceremony fee is $500.

Hmm, don’t know if this is in your budget, but we’re doing ours at Neighborhood Unitarian Church in Pasadena. They have a nice garden out back, and you’d have the option of a smaller chapel in case of rain. Garden wedding is $1,200, though (it includes chairs and an arch and some other stuff, but not the officiant, but that sounds like it might be more than you want to go). They’re very laid back, you don’t have to use their minister (although you can if you want to). I’m in love with the Ross Chapel there, hoping we can shrink our guest list enough to do it there rather than the main sanctuary.

You can check out Happy Trails Catering Pasadena, or the Oviatt Penthouse in Downtown LA.

Do you mind telling me the name of the state park?

They provide chairs, but they’re bright orange ones, so we made orange one of our wedding colors. =P

@HoneyAndT: I think that deserves the equivalent of the “like” button. 🙂

Heritage Square (heritagesquare.org)? Where Mrs. Stripes got married. You can have the reception inside one of the houses if you have a small party. You have to provide the chairs and stuff, though.

We are getting married in the Rose Garden at the Arboretum…chairs are only $1.50/per person. Could your friend get certified?
Also theres a cute place called Inn Of the Seventh Ray…..
Let me know how it goes!!
