If you pair it with a cardigan, it should be fine.

    I think so…. I’m really not sure what business/cocktail means either…..

That dress is def business….. I’m not sure I would call it ‘cocktail’

But I’m sure you can drink cocktails in it!

Business/cocktail isn’t a dress code! None of the cocktail dresses I own would be the least appropriate in a business setting. And none of the businessy clothes I wear would look right at a party.

The good thing, though, is that it’s likely everyone else will be just as confused as you are. Go ahead and wear that dress, with a cardigan as PP suggested. It’s cute!

As long as you wear stockings its fine in my opinion.

I think “business cocktail” probably means “cocktail dress but don’t show too much boob or thigh”

I think that dress is perfect, as long as the length is OK. If it’s to your knees that sounds good.

@kimm99:  I agree with your definition of business/cocktail.

I think the dress is lovely, esp with tights. Maybe consider a nice cardi

Its a little short, but it should be ok with stockings.  I second the suggestion for a blazer.  You will look a little more professional if you arrive and everyone is wearing suits.  You also won’t look out of place if you go and everyone is wearing silk cocktail dresses.

I know my boyfriend gets confused about the dress code a lot.  I have learned not to rely on him with stuff like that.  🙂
