Bees – I have been having the HARDEST time finding a dress to wear to a catholic wedding this weekend where I’m doing one of the readings. Is this ok or is it too much ivory?
EDIT: Dress is from Target for all those that have asked. (They also have an ivory slip/ivory lace overlay that would be a CUTE shower/rehearsal dress!) 🙂
EDIT #2: Well I finally said to hell with it and just texted the bride, she was like “Go for it! It’s SO cute!” Hooray! 🙂

I love it! I think it’s fine.

Where did you get the dress? lol

Yeah, between the orange, and shoulders covered, no cleavage, decently long skirt – you’re good to go!

I have to be honest, I think it is too much ivory. I’d be pretty dismayed if someone wore that to my wedding, especially someone doing a reading :/ Sorry!
What other dresses are you considering?

I like it…..I think it is.

I have always thought if you are questioning it, then you shouldn’t wear it. You will be questioning your choice and you won’t be comfortable.

I think its lovely and I would not be upset if someone wore that to my wedding.
seriously though…where did you buy that? haha

I think its pretty and ok to wear…

I hate this hang up on ivory/white at weddings.
You are very clearly NOT the bride. Wear the dress, you look hot!

That’s a cute dress. I had two people wear white dresses with splashes of black that a lot of people on here probably would have vetoed as inappropriate, but I didn’t care.
I think it depends on the bride. I have seen wedding dresses with a similar pattern (no orange though). I voted not to wear it, but not solely because of the ivory… but because it looks like lace at first glance and the pattern is sort of bridal-looking. THe pattern and texture in combination with the ivory make it a little too much IMO.

@EleanorRigby: agreed – it’s the ivory and lace combo that just makes it a little bridal. obviously no one will think you ARE the bride, but that really isn’t the point.
ETA: that is a damn cute dress tho, and I will be heading over to target to check it out asap!

Thanks everyone for your thoughts/votes! I ended up just texting the bride and she loved it and told me it was fine. 🙂
Also, for those that asked, the dress is from Target! They also have an all ivory one that would look great for a shower/rehearsal!
