- Wedding: August 2013
So Fiance and I were just talking about wedding plans. We have been engaged since December 20th of 2010 and set our date for May of 2014 (long engagement due to school and finances). However, we were talking and decided that rather than spend the money on the reception hall (that does not allow drinks), DJ, catering, etc, we would prefer our ceremony in the cute little 1800s chapel and then run over to the local outdoor cookout pavillion for a casual potluck-esque reception. This way we could have some drinks (if we choose), we’d save money (not incredibly well off) and I think the family reunion type feel would be memorable and stress free. Also, there is a softball field right next to the pavillion and Fiance wants a “Team Bride”/”Team Groom” softball game (we’d put in the invitations to either dress casually or bring casual attire).
The other part of this change is that since this wedding would be VERY inexpensive, we kind of want to move it up to this August. I know it sounds silly but we’ve been engaged so long – I’m really just ready to get married haha. There won’t be many people coming so it isn’t a huge deal to move it up.
My question: our original color scheme was red, black and white. I feel that since this wedding potentially just got A LOT more casual, those colors are a bit too formal for it. Can you Bees help me come up with a soft, summery color scheme? I’ll only have a few decorations for the tables, some flowers (probably fake) and of course the bridesmaid dresses. Thanks so much!
