I’ve been quite intrigued by the many, many posts here about dress regret and now I’m in that boat too. Since I came home with my dress last September, something just hasn’t been feeling right. I’m curious what other bees think I should do. Should I get alterations (could be costly) to my current dress, to satisfy most of the things I think it needs, or just cut my losses and order another dress? My wedding is in FOUR months! I feel like one of those crazy indecisive brides now.
I bought my dress (San Patrick) off the rack last September and posted about it here: http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/the-adventures-of-dress-shopping-first-post
The last time I tried it on, however, just before Christmas, I felt like I was swimming in it.
Since I was having recurring feelings of dread throughout the fall, I indulged my desire to try on some more dresses. I made a quick trip to David’s Bridal to look at slimmer fitting dresses with less fabric. Enter V3204. This is me trying it on again at Christmas.
The sample was a size too small, so my Future Mother-In-Law had to hold it together at the back.
Imagine it with just a little more room!
I feel SO guilty even for having tried other dresses, but I have to say that the DB dress felt lighter, more airy and in some ways more comfortable. (Although the San Patrick is pretty comfy too.)
I’m going to get a quote on alterations for the San Patrick this weekend, but I suspect they might run pretty high – I’d need a hem, to take it in a size or two, slim the A-line look (by bringing in the side seams about seven inches or so), and I’m even thinking I should chop off a foot or two from the train to look something more like this:
What do you think? I think I’d be happy in the DB dress, but I also wonder if I should just recognize why I loved the San Patrick in the first place and get the alterations done to avoid losing money on the dress. I feel like I have to make a decision immediately and the pressure is killing me! Help!
