Where did you get the cups that you had sewen in? I’m going to be wearing the Maggie Sottero Bernadette dress, and need to have cups put in because alas, I can’t find shapewear with a low enough back for the dress. (I’m adding in the picture of the back of my dress, and you can probably see my Spanx poking out…)
What brand did you use? Would you reccomend them? Did they keep you supported and tucked away? Did you just buy your “regular” cup size, or did you find they ran big or small?
Eep! My first appointment with the seamstress is a week from tomorrow! I’m kinda freaking out a little!

I had cups sewn in and it was great – all I wore were panties underneath my gown! I had the alternations done at the bridal shop where I purchased the dress, and they had several cup sizes I could try on during the fitting and also supplied the actual cups.

Thanks for the input! I’m having one of the DC Alteration “gurus” work on my dress. She runs her business out of her house so I want to be prepared. I guess I’ll call her tomorrow and ask her what types of cups she reccoments.
Like you this means that I’ll only be wearing panties, a garter belt, and nylons under my dress. I feel a little odd not to be wearing spanx, but the dress has boning in it, so I don’t really think I’ll look lumpy. I just can’t wait until the dress actually fits the way I want it to! (the top is too big and I’m short.)

Your seamstrist should have the cups

I didnt have cups sewn to my dress but rather sewn into the bra I wanted to wear. In any case the seamstress provided the cups after trying a few to find the right size. She didn’t seem to bat an eye and just pulled them out of nowhere during my first fitting. Magic!

I’m small chested (A-cups) so I need some padding. I was about the buy the cup that you would find at a craft store but I needed something more than those little things. So I used one of my old wonder bras and cut off the straps and asked my seamstress to sew it in. It worked great! My dress was a corset in the back so that’s why i cut off the straps so it wouldn’t show.
I was told if you need extra support, then the best idea is to use one of your old bras because you know you fit into them.
Oh, my dress was also a Maggie Sottero dress. 🙂

I had bought bust supplementing cups a few years back at Walmart (to go from A to B cup). I never did end up using them for anything but they worked perfectly to be sewn into my dress.
