I think the dress you found is similar in terms of overall feel. Do you think it would be possible to get the dress in ivory/mocha? Also would it still stay within your budget if you ask them to extend the tulle to fluff around the bottom like the Marchessa and do other changes? How close do you want to get? Obviously there are some major differences, but is the dress close enough for you?

@bohosioux:  The neckline is pretty different between the Marchessa and the Modeca. The Marchessa has kind of a mini keyhole thing going on while the lace appliques go all the way to the top of the Modeca. The types of lace are also different with the Marchessa dress having mostly vine work with a few big flowers for pop while the Modeca has mostly blooms. I can’t tell on the picture, but does the Marchessa’s appliques have shiny/beaded elements? You address the difference in the sleeves with the idea of a bolero, so that’s taken care of.

All of that being said, I think both dresses are beautiful, and like I initially said, the Modeca dress is quite close in overall feel to the Marchessa. It’s a little hard to see with the black on mocha, but I think if you can do ivory/mocha combination it would be darn close.

I think the Enzoani dress without crinoline is close, too, but I think the Modeca is closer.

Defiitely the same “feel”.   Love them both.  I’m usually not in to big designers, but Marchesa dresses are ALWAYS so swoony.

You’re lucky there’s something so similar!  I tried forever to find something even *sort of* similar to this – and totally struck out.

I love the dress you found better as well.  The first dress is no doubt very beautiful, but I don’t like the extra on the sleeves, I prefer the simplicity of the second gown. It’s just stunning!
