Our plan was to have about 100 – 110 ppl at our wedding. As I started looking around, I couldn’t believe the prices…..for the reception alone. We just bought a house 2 yrs ago and I can’t see spending all that money and probably going into debt for that one day when we can put that money into our house and enjoy for years. My Mom also passed away in March so I’m not as excited to have an “all out” wedding. We are looking to have a ceremony and dinner in one if possible. We are inviting our closet friends and family. Any idea’s on what we could do or suggestions of places in the Central NJ area only, please.
All help is greatly appreciated.

Hello! You should try posting this on the local boards, you might have better luck! (And speaking of luck, I hope you have some in finding a site) 🙂

I’m not from your area but I would recommend checking on pavillions in a public park – or even a state park in the area – that can be reserved. That would be beautiful and also affordable.

Hello! Have you considered a restaurant reception? There are several nice restaurants in central New Jersey that can handle a 50 person party, off the top of my head I would check out: The Frog & The Peach in New Brunswick, Pheasants Landing in Hillsborough, and Spain 92 in Bridgewater. I would ask for the regular party package prices and go from there. I believe these places are all at or under $50 per person for the regular party packages, without an open bar option, but you can add on whichever options you like because they will work with you on the pricing and catering options. I hope that helps!

I don’t have any specific suggestions, since I am not in NJ, but we’re having 45 guests at our wedding, so I thought I’d offer my thoughts.
We’re doing a restaurant reception. Look for restaurants in your area that have either a large “party” room, or who will rent out to you for your event. We are having a church ceremony, but it was an option to have the ceremony at our reception venue.
Restaurant receptions tend to be cheaper too, since you don’t have to rent anything.
Hope this helps a little 🙂

are you looking for central east (e.g., monmouth county) or central west (closer to trenton)? what’s your budget?
in central east, i would suggest looking at restaurants/places in red bank (along the navasink river) or up in union beach/keyport/atlantic highlands. those areas will have water views. one of my favorite places is nicholas on rt. 35 S http://www.restaurantnicholas.com/
