I’ve read about this vendor: http://glosite.com and it looks like they even have a free trial.  I personally have not used them but have read great things. They even do full invitation suites.

I’m bumping this so I can find out, too =)  My mom wants me to do them, but I don’t.  I don’t want to be out the extra for postage, etc.  This would be GREAT!!!  Great idea =)

I used http://www.pingg.com and it worked marvelously!  You can custom design one with your own photo, or they have ones already prepared for you.  Once you send the emails out, you can track when your guests receive the email, open the email, view the ecard, etc.  It’s pretty fabulous!  Good luck with the S-T-D planning!

What about Paperless Post? I’ve heard great things about them!

ETA – Oh oh! They have a STD section!

We used Paperless Post.  They have some gorgeous templates, and it worked really well.  The only thing is you only get 25 “stamps” when you sign up and have to pay for additional.  But you get 10 for everyone person that you refer who signs up, so I had my sister, mom, Fiance all do it so I had enough to send them out.

Also for certain customizations, it costs as well (like pictures, envelope liners).  We did something simple, so didn’t need that.  Overall, I would highly recommend!

I don’t know about the other sites, but one thing I appreciated was that it tracks who opens it, and for my bridal shower, will actually handle RSVPs as well.

Have you guys looked on wedding channel.com.  They have a lot of really great tools and one of them is emailing save the dates.  I have used it for my guest lists, rsvp, and now starting for gifts and thank you notes.
