I wanted us to have matching bands too, but I had my eye on one wedding band in particular and there wasn’t really a men’s band that would match it. In the end, we decided to go with the same metals and match it that way. We also plan to have them both engraved with the same thing. For us, it was more important to have bands that we both loved rather than settling for ones that matched. It would have probably been a lot simpler if we had similar styles, but alas it was not meant to be.

I would have liked matching bands, jut both me and Fiance have specific tastes and it wouldn’t have been fair to either of us. What we did do was use old jewellery we bought each other to make our bands. And Fiance has a white gold strip set in (from the same gold my ring is made from). Where mine is just white gold. Just posted it in the “man’s wedding band metal” thread

cmb1988 :  if your set on having matching bands why not just get plain white gold bands? You could get a daintier one and he could get a thicker one. I’ve also seen band sets that arnt identical to one another

cmb1988 :  that’s not good! We must have been lucky with our jeweller, because he was amazing start to finish. Made mockups in silver, adjusted where we asked to and took every step with every care he could. It’s his own business and you walk into his workshop, so you get a “warts and all” view which I quite liked! I’d do a little bit of research and go for a chat with independent jewellers, see if they can put your mind at rest, as mine did.
