I’m 27 and old-fashioned… Looking for a wedding dress with sleeves and high quality lace for a winter/ church wedding. Budget around $3000. Been searching online / in stores for over 2 months, with little success. I strongly dislike sequins and beads. I am getting seriously discouraged. Everytime I walk into a store and ask the salespeople for a lace dress with long or 3/4 sleeves and no embellishments I basically get laughed at- (“good luck, honey”). All I can find are strapless dresses (or cap sleeves… or sequins, or terrible Kate Middleton knockoff dresses, etc). Also, if I’m going to spend money, I want the dress to be one piece. (No boleros for me!)
Then oneday, I found a beautiful dress that I instantly loved- Opera from the Manuel Mota for Pronovias 2010 collection. Called Pronovias to find out that they no longer sell/ make the dress. I can’t find it anywhere. Found some sample dresses on line in sizes 12-14, but I’m between sizes 4 and 6. Can anyone either 1) suggest where I can find “Opera” or 2) suggest a comparable dress for me to try on? I’m a fan of Pronovias lace, but some of the dresses with sleeves either have beads (yuck) or are $5k + (double yuck). Please help! Here is “Opera” for a frame of reference:

Have you seen Allure 8900?

I’m not sure what it runs, but the Elizabeth Fillmore Sandrine would fit the bill. The Opera is GORGEOUS. It’s too bad they don’t make it anymore!

Second the WTOO Astoria… I tried it on and it was beautiful, though too low cut in the front for me. http://watters.com/Product/WtooBrides/17495/ It looks very similar to the Pronovias you love, with the fit-and-flare skirt. I know it was under $2k at the shop I saw (in CA), but don’t remember the price.

Sounds like custom made by a tailor is the way to go.

you can add sleeves to any dress buy purchasing a lace top or bolero. Rosa Clara has beautiful ones. Here is an image of one. http://www.rosaclara.es/v3/en/ver_complementos/top/11-complementos_novia.html The Rosa Cara Two collection is around 1500-3000 they also have really pretty lace dresses.

@mariavvisa: The Sandrine is my FAVORITE dream dress, but it runs close to 5 grand…so its really expensive…and like I said a DREAM dress for me. 🙁 Im old fashioned too. I dont like bling. Love Lace. I feel like Im most likely going to find a strapless dress and have pretty cap sleeves made to fit it.

Are you 4-6 bridal, or 4-6 regular? If pronovias sizes small like most bridal does, that might get you close enough to make just buying the sample and altering in a sensible possibility.

You could still try on the ones with embellishments, and ask if you can order them without. I know some brides have done that and it has also decreased the price when you don’t have to pay for hand beading.
