So I just found out that two of my 12 bridesmaids dresses are lost in the mail!!! We sent them USPS and did not pay for insurance, just for delivery confirmation. One of the lost dresses is supposedly at the post office, but they can not find it anywhere. The other was supposedly delivered, but my BM never received it. What do I do??????
I have already called all post offices involved, and no one knows where anything is. The wedding is July 17th, and the bridal store said they require a minimum of 6 weeks to order new ones and cannot guarantee that the colors will match as they will be from different dye lots (and they are coral – potentially hard to match, I’m thinking). Not to mention, the dresses are not cheap, and I can’t ask the BMs to pay again.
Has anyone dealt with this situation before? I need help!!!!

Sorry to hear this! I have no idea, but I would say, don’t panic. If it doesn’t work out for whatever reason, everything will still go fine. You could try to find a different, less expensive dress in the same color, or work with the bridal store to determine the best solution. Also see what the girls who are missing the dresses prefer to do.

Scary :(. Nowadays, its EXTREMELY rare for the post office to lose things. I’d have your friend talk to the specific mail carrier (the one who’s confirmation says it was delivered, but they don’t have it). The carrier probably remembers it & where it went. Just talk to them soon cause the sooner you ask, the more they’ll remember.
As for the one somewhere in the post office, I’m sure it’ll turn up. Have your friend go in person & talk to someone. Bring the confirmation number too. They’ll find it!
EDIT: describe the packaging to your friends to pass onto the postman. was it in a box? A colored box? Details like that may help them find it faster/ remember it more clearly.

I don’t know what’s up with the postal service these days. Less than a year ago I’d ordered a set of very expensive Kaplan books to study for board exams. When I opened up the cardboard box that was supposed to have contained them, I found instead a huge stack of Walmart catalogs. No one at Kaplan has any reason to do this because they have books lying around all over the place. Why take mine? So I assume the only other place this could have happened is a shady mail carrier who stuffed the box to the approximate Kaplan book weight and probably sold my books on ebay…
Sorry about the rant – I guess I’m still annoyed!

Can you find an off-the-rack dress in a coordinating color and style? Maybe a few of your other BMs would be willing to swap out their dresses as well and you could do every-other?

Have your ladies ask other members of the household if they saw a package and put it aside. Maybe someone forgot to let them know they have a package. Also, have your ladies check around where they live to see if the postal worker hid it behind something. Also, have them check with the neighbors to see if it was delivered to one of them by mistakke.

PS. Simlegirl I’m sorry I forgot to say somethign actually useful. Anyway, I would try to see if anythign can be worked out with the store that you bought the dresses from. even if the coral color is a little off odds are no one will really notice. We are the only ones obsessed with the details! Also, My other choice would be to go with different dresses in the same shade so that depending on how large your bridal party is, it could come off looking as a planned mix and match thing which loads of ppl do nowadays.
