Can’t say I know too too much about Maui and Kauai, but here are a few bios that might help with vendors and locale.

i’m sure the bios that sushi posted will be helpful, but thought i’d add some thoughts too…

it really depends on what kind of wedding you’re going for…small & intimate?  large & casual?  beachside formal?  just like with any other wedding location there’s endless options & what you want will determine where to hold it.

there’s a ton of information online on hotels, beaches, etc.  another website i really like is http://www.vrbo.com where you can see entire houses for rent.  my fiance & i almost went that way but settled on a bed & breakfast instead.

you should start with travel books on each of the islands you are considering and read up on the islands (and also e-mail some of your fellow hawai’i bees here!).  that way you can see what parts of the island are remote, which have nightlife, which have the options you’re looking for, etc.  i know there’s so much to do at once, but just one step at a time and feel free to post more questions!  i grew up on the big island and have been to all the major islands recently so just ask!

I would recommend you contact a local wedding coordinator.  I’m a local girl and I’ve met witha few and they’re great at offering suggestions and vendors.  I’m not sure I can afford one (we’re on a super tight budget AND we have tons of family right on-island) but if I could I would LOVE Weddings by Grace and Mona.  Mona is so nice!  I think if you google them you can get their contact info. . .
