Hello, I am trying to plan a wedding in MN. I currently live in Florida but my fiance’s family is in MN, so i do not have the opportunity to go check out venues in person. I am on a fairly low budget, trying to keep the wedding and ceremony under 5k, but am looking for a venue that has a coordinator i can communicate with during planning process. His family lives in Maple grove so if anyone knows of any venues in that area it would be great. I’m starting to get fairly discouraged and wondering if this will even be possible.. we were hoping to marry next summer…

@Mrslingen2be: I’m a Minneapolis Bride– Maple Grove has some really nice golf courses that often come with an “events coordinator.” Also, they have great parks

Minnesota Bride here 🙂 We’re in Eden Prairie (fairly near Maple Grove)
Our budget was also supposed to be $5000, but creeping up on 7k now… We’re planning for about 80 people. How many do you think you’ll have?
For my reception, I considered our crowd and decided that food quality and service were more important than DJ/large dance floor. Because of this, we’re renting a 100-person-capacity private room in a restaurant for the reception. It eliminates the rental fee for just the venue, all the fees for extra servers/bartenders, the menu we get for $30 per person is unbelievable (much better value than caterers), and even if I fail to decorate in any way, the space will still be fairly well done-up. I recommend it highly! They would also let us have music, and if few enough people attend, there would be space for a dance floor. I couldn’t be happier. For the ceremony we’re renting a near-by outdoor park space for $275 and adding chairs. This all together with open bar will cost us about $4500, so you can see why anything more expensive than a restaurant reception is not an option within the budget. Many small things will bring it up to about 7k by the time everything is done. Hopefully this helps!
ETA: I should have said that anything more expensive than a restaurant reception would be out of our budget if we wanted the same food and service. If you’re looking to cut back a little on food/drink/service, a more expensive venue may certainly work for you! To each her own 🙂
