All my girls are wearing the same dress (below, but in purple). My little sister/maid of honor wants hers to stand out a little – any suggestions? We’d rather not do a sparkly belt, my mom is wearing one. Thanks!

Could you add cap sleeves to it, since she’s younger (I’m not sure how much younger)…or a wrap in the same color? Maybe add beading to the top of the neckline?
ETA: Or you could add a brooch to the side of the dress where the ruching gathers…

Maybe some beaded embellishment on the sweetheart neckline. If that’s not possible maybe accessorize or behave her buy some shoes that stand out.

I would add a broach where the rouching is.

What about playing with the hem a little? Perhaps find a lace or beaded edge at a craft store and attach it? Sometimes I wear a plain skirt to work but put a longer lace slip under it so it peaks out around the hem…
Also, maybe a coordinating color sash would work. Not sparkly, but just another color in your wedding palate.
Maybe doll up her hair a little? Put up flower or sparkle or something in her hair that the other girls won’t have?
Good luck! The dress is cute 🙂

Thanks for the ideas! She’s vetoing all, just texted haha. She’s 24, so we’re not worried about covering her up at all. A hair thing might work, but she says she wants to leave her hair done (direct quote: like Victoria’s Secret) haha. Any more ideas?

I also vote for a rose or brooch where the fabric gathers at the waist.

@greenidlady: The only problem with that is that I have one there too – she doesn’t want to “copy” mine. Sorry – I know I’m being a pain!

If she doesn’t like flower attachment idea, my only other idea is to do a different color for her or a full length dress.

Honestly I’d just throw a flower/ broach/impact necklace/small purse her way. I think she should def wear the same dress as the rest of the gang. The only person up there who should really stand out is the bride.

I think your sister is being a brat. Why does she need to be special? It’s you’re day. Personally with her kiboshing all the ideas suggested to her, I can’t help but think she’s trying to make this wedding all about her.
Find a solution you like to set her apart and offer it.
“You can either utilize <<insert solution here>> or you wear the dress like all the other girls. I’ve already spent too much time and effort making you look special when this day isn’t even about you”.
I’d kill my sister if she pulled this crap.
