Following because I would love to see the bustles others have gone with, to help me decide as well.

I usually prefer outside bustles to inside/French bustles, but I like the inside bustle on yours better. Maybe it’s because the outside bustle does look messy in that photo.

I had a single-point outside bustle and I loved it.

My dress is drastically different from yours, but my seamstress suggested a low french bustle. There were 7 ribbons attached to the inside of the dress, which were tied together to hoist the back up. I had a really long train like yours, though.

My dress was very similar to yours and my seamstress did a beautiful bustle! (seriously got compliments on it! She did an outside one but she did it in 2 layers. First there were 5 points on the insdie of the skirt to pull up the lining, and then 3 points (I believe. or it was 7 and 5) on the outside, to hold up the lace layer. It laid so beautifully! I absolutely loved it! So, I would vote for outside, but she should do it in 2 layers.

Sunshine024 :  I voted inside bustle but after seeing your photos (very similar dresses!) I love yours.

Charliejeorge :  Pulled up like the outside one. Basically she placed the lace buttons just above the underneath buttons. It helped give the lace one the shape. She also disconnected the lace layer from the bottom and added in snaps to keep it together while it was down.

I would make your seamstress pin it correctly before you decide to go with it (or go with her). That way you can really see if you like it or not.

ETA: I will PM you some pics of it while it was being altered. Should be easier to see the 2 layers

Have you considered a wrist loop? I never like the look of bustles of any type. Your train looks light and very doable as a wrist loop.
l have just seen sunshine’s however and if you are set on a bustle, that would be it!

elderbee :  I thought about doing a wrist loop for mine (similar design to OP, solid underlayer and lace layer over it) but it looked lousy with the two layers pulled up and out of alignment.

I actually couldn’t stand my bustle but by the time it came to get done I didn’t give a damn anymore. So I have limited “good” pics of it.

Mine was already built into the dress – no idea what it was called but I believe there were 7 buttons in a V shape.

    Before bustle,

    After bustle,

I like Sunshine’s bustle style for your dress!

Five point bustle on the lace, three point for the underlay.
