So this is a bit embarrassing because I usually don’t get obsessed over what color my hair is. Last month I went in to have my hair dyed and decided to go for something different so we did some highlights in the front. Some days I absolutely love them and other days I can’t stand them. It seems like they look brassy or yellow in pictures but in person look great. We are doing our engagement pictures soon and our wedding is in a year, last thing I want are pictures with a hair color I can’t stand.
Here are pictures of how it looks with highlights, the dark brown I normally dye it and my natural color which tends to change. Which do you think is more flattering?
Current color with highlights, first pic is outside and other is inside. I also have little to no make up on in these

Natural Color in the summer
I am open if anyone has other suggestions or advice on which way to go.

I normally prefer highlighted hair but I like the way your natural color looks!

@Aadams4: I really like the dark brown. I’m a fan of dark hair anyway (I dye mine black), but I think the darker color looks richer in pictures (based on what you’ve posted). It doesn’t wash you out at all (as I know dark hair can do in some cases), and I think it would be very flattering for engagement photos.

I love your natural colour during winter, plus it looks so healthy and shiny!

Cool dark brown with cool highlights. It looks much more beautiful on your skin than the warmer colors 🙂

Thank you ladies, I do love my natural hair color, the only issue is the ends get so much lighter naturally then the roots and it looks funny. Thats the main reason I started dying my hair. The one thing you can’t really tell in the picture of the darker brown is that it has quite a lot of red in it, it really stood out in natural light, wish I had a better picture of the color on me.
This was the inspiration picture for the richer/darker brown.

I love your natural colour but you could add some more honey/caramel highlights (think Ashley Greene’s hair), still very subtle but just brightens the face a bit more. Otherwise I think the PP’s suggestion for auburn would be really beautiful too.

I think going 1 or 2 (or 1 1/2 which a stylist can mix) levels darker than your natural color (maybe all-over one level darker and have 3 levels from your natural color foiled in not too heavy, medium foil). You look like you’re around a level 5, maybe slightly lighter especially in the summer. That would be really pretty and keep dimension in your hair by foiling it and foiling with undertones is pretty. For more of a subtle change, 1 level darker all over and 2 levels darker foiled in.
I wouldn’t go with highlighting, I’d do something different from what’s typical and have fun with it a little. You have gorgeous hair and your natural color is beautiful, it could just use a boost from being bleached by the sun and such, in my opinion. Make the color more rich. I also think you’d look beautiful with slightly darker hair, I don’t think it would wash you out at all.

You’re gorgeous! I like all the shades, but darker is the best!

@mrsscribbles – thanks for the ideas I am thinking I’ll go in before our engagement pictures and have her redo it. I think I will go back with a darker color and have her put in some other shades of maybe auburn or something other then blonde.
