Hey everyone, I’m soo excited to be posting this and starting my engagement ring story! I’ve been lurking here for a couple of months and I went from wanting a round to falling completely in love with ovals! THen I went to the jewelry store and just convinced myself. I’m trying to find a lab grown and I would love the opinion of you lovely bees!
I’ve been reading so much about lab grown diamonds and it seems like IGI might be softer in their grading so I bumped up the specs – I figure if I aim for a F/G VS2, the worst I’ll get is a H SI2. The diamond is going to be set in a yellow gold setting. I’d like to go as big as possible while still having the most brilliance and sparkle! It’s hard for me to tell the amount of bowtie – I’d like to keep it minimal though a little is okay. Am I missing anything else to consider?
The budget is $5500 and the minimum carat size I’m aiming for is 1.5 carats. Thanks so much for your help! I can’t wait til I’m wearing it on my hand!

I love my oval and unlike a few posts, have had excellent customer service with Brilliant Earth. I think you can’t go wrong with the last two! Beautiful!

Hey!!! I’m in pretty much the same boat, although looking for a 3ct oval. I don’t know the difference though between moissanite and lab grown? Could someone help me out in simple layman’s terms?!

A laboratory grown diamond is a diamond, corsisting of exactly the same elements as a natural mined diamond, only it’s grown in a laboratory.
Moissanite is a different stone altogether, the original was natural but that stock has long since gone. Moissanites are now all lab created. The are often called diamond stimulants because they do resemble diamonds to a degree.
In terms of price, the most expensive is a natural diamond, then a lab grown diamond, then a moissanite.

isitalladream : seems like the last 2 stones are no longer available? Maybe you bought one of them already? I’m not sure what the stats are for #1. Is this from a reputable Amazon seller? I would say overall I’d go with #2. It’s beautiful, but I think there is a carbon filament at the top of the stone? Could be a lighting artifact but I hear James Allen has a good return policy if it turns out there is something there and it bothers you.

Thanks so much for taking the time to explain. Does anyone know where to find reputable lab grown diamonds in Ireland or the UK?
