For our reception, we are doing a family-style dinner and will be serving a prime rib dish and chicken saltimbocca. In addition, we get two starches and seasonal veggies. One of the starches can be pasta, which is great, because I’m a huge pasta fan. We went for a tasting, but we were only able to taste the first one. However, they offer 5 more choices. Which one sounds the best?
Oh also, the first two would cost an additional $4/guest (so about $1,000 extra before tax and tip – not a huge deal breaker for us. We would likely use the extra $1,000 to get something extra at the reception or save it for our honeymoon!).
And finally, anyone with special dietary needs (vegetarian, vegan, allergies, etc.) will have a special meal. So, there is no need to make sure we have a vegetarian option here.

@krobbie: Is the wild mushroom ravioli really with popcorn?
Or is that supposed to be peppercorn?
That one sounds best, I’m just confused by the popcorn.

They all sound good…but then I LOVE pasta. But I don’t think the first two are worth $1,000 more than the others. As for which one, since you have a vegetarian option, it doesn’t matter. They all sound yummy!

I voted for the mac and cheese just because I don’t like cream sauces on pasta.

you know, I’m not really sure! I asked what the other options were, and they sent an email with all of the choices. I agree that it sounds really good (I love truffle anything)!

I don’t care for many cream sauces either, but I would tear up some fancy macaroni and cheese! I agree – the first two choices are definitely not worth $1,000!

I voted for the pesto, but both Orecchiete dishes sound amazing.

I would avoid the options with ham in them because, traditionally, any saltimbocca dish is made with prosciutto or ham.

I’m a huge pasta fan!!!!!!!! I picked #3 because not everyone likes pesto… I think generally most people prefer a tomato type of sauce… macaroni and cheese just doesnt seem luxurious enough for the rest of your meal… reminds me too much of kraft dinner… just being honest. I like #3, it’s making me hungry right now!

Thank you everyone!
That’s a good point! I didn’t really think of that (and the saltimbocca does have proscuitto, yum!)
I am a huge huge fan of pesto. However, it’s unlikely we’ll choose it because I’m sure it’s made with nuts, and we have two severe peanut allergies in our families, and both people are supposed to stay away from all nuts. I forgot to mention that in my original post!
Anyone else? Any reason why one sounds better than another? Maybe the descriptions can be changed to make one sound more appetizing? I’m just happy we’re having pasta. And honestly, we’ll be in Italy for part of our honeymoon, so I know I’ll have plenty of pasta there (and it will taste much better, of course)!

No red sauce option other than the red cream sauce?
