I went dress shopping for the first time today and found myself quite surprised. I went in thinking I wanted a slender A-Line or a discrete mermaid, but I ended up liking some fuller A-lines as well. I’m a very small gal, so finding a dress that fits me well seems to be a struggle. Please let me know which silhoutte you think looks best on me!

Hmm, I’m not sure that I like either silhouette on you. That ball gown is cutting you a little high and makes you look shorter than you really are and the mermaid looks a little restrictive. You’re on the right track but I think you need a little tweak in those silhouettes. Try looking at a basque waist or drop waist ball gown and check out fit n flares.

You look fantastic in both. You have the slenderness and the even proportions to wear anything.

I think I’d like to see you in a modified a-line or fit and flare – which would probably be somewhere between those two dresses. Like it would be fitted through the hip and then flare out from the lower hip to upper thigh. Not too poofy though – simple lines.

I could have written your post exactly, torn between a mermaid or ballgown! If anything, I think the fact that you look good in both makes it even harder to narrow down. I think both look great, so it basically comes down to what style or look you want for your day! I compromised by finding a mermaid gown with a removably full train so I get both. 😉
Good luck with your search. You’re going to look stunning whichever you pick!

I love the more slender look on you. Really shows off your tiny figure!

andielle: I personally love the second one!! It looks better proportioned for your figure. You look tall, slim and more relaxed in it. The fuller A-line is too much dress for your figure! Who is the designer of the mermaid one (2nd photo you posted)?

I actually love the first one on you. It shows your tiny waist and makes you look like you have a perfect hourglass figure, in my opinion.

andielle: I think you look absolutely beautiful in both! With how great your figure looks in the mermaid while still looking so classy and the fact that not everyone is blessed with being able to pull that off, that’s the one I would choose. It was hard to tell if #2 and #3 were the same or different dresses….but I’m totally in love with #3!
