Hi bees! I would appreciate some outside thoughts on two dresses I’m torn between. Both are on a great sale that ends today, so I’ve really got to decide! And everyone I know is giving me different opinions haha- my maid of honor and the consulatant really raved about the second one, but everyone else is telling me that the first is more flattering. I truly love both. Things to know: we’re getting married in a rainforest building at a zoo, so we wanted to lean into a colorful vibe, and I’d been imagining a bohemian feel, but also don’t want it to be too casual.
Dress #1: When I put this one on, I immediately felt great in it and loved it. This dress makes me feel playful, comfortable, and fun, while also feeling beautiful and confident, and I could incorporate the accessories I’d been looking at like a colorful veil for the ceremony and a big colorful flower crown for the reception. I’d need to add cups to this one, and I’d want to add a bit of beading to the straps. I like the simplicity of it, and think it’s pretty flattering. My hangup with this one is that I guess it’s pretty basic, but I like it anyways so idk that I care?
Dress #2: I thought this one was incredibly beautiful from the second I saw it on the rack, and while I wasn’t sure it was right for ME when I first put it on, I did think it was absolutely beautiful. After the consultant and my maid of honor raved on it, it really won me over too! The color is more of a cool tone than I’m used to wearing so I’m still not sure about how it looks with my skin tone, and I would need to adjust our wedding colors a bit, but the blue of the flowers in it is precisely the blue of the bridemaid gowns I had in mind, which was nice. This one feels special and elegant, and I like that it’s unique and something I haven’t seen on anyone else before. I would have to scrap my accessory ideas, as I feel like this dress has enough going on with it as is. I would also have to be very careful with shades of decor to not clash with the colored gown I think, so it would be more muted tones compared to our original brights. I do think it’s a very magical look though, and again I like that it’s different. It doesn’t feel as “me”- but maybe my wedding is a good chance to be more dramatic and sparkly than usual?

they’re both gorgeous but I think you’re right, the first dress is a little plain.
That blue dress is absolutely MAGICAL on you. I love it!

I absolutely love the blue dress bee. The first one is fine but not particularly special. I don’t think you really need to worry about clashing with the decor, and I still think a colourful flower crown would look beautiful with it.
What does the back look like?

I think you look nice in the first, and it is flattering, but the blue one is a show stopper. I’m usually not a fan of colored embroidery, but that one is so tastefully done and elegant.

My jaw literally fell open at the blue dress. It’s 10000 times better.

Like other bees I agree the second one is so magical and gorgeous! It looks amazing on you!! It also kind of reminds me of a rainforest. The detailing looks like the vines in a rainforest! I think it’s absolutely beautiful

From what you’ve written, it seems you are happier in the first dress, which is why I’d go with that. You are the only one that needs to love the dress (and it is beautiful on you!!!). You don’t want to have dress regret by going with a dress that you don’t feel is “you.”

I normally love a bit of colour, but in this case I like dress #1 much better. It’s got some beautiful unusual details and looks great on you

If we’re just looking at the dress, the blue dress is the showstopper… but from reading what you have to say it sounds like the first dress would be lower stress as you don’t have to change any other plans and you feel very much yourself in it. I also think the white dress is a little more flattering, but they both look great on you. Is the blue dress just a little big on you? I think it comes down to how important is your comfort and stress level versus how important is it to you to wear a dress that stands up on its own?

I think both dresses are beautiful and, while the blue dress on it’s own has more going on, the accessories you have planned for the first one would make you and the dress stand out just as much as the second dress. Reading your original post, it sounds like your heart is actually set on the first one and you are torn by other’s opinions and the fact that dress 2 is absolutely beautiful. Imagine being told you couldn’t have either dress for whatever reason and pay attention to your initial reach; that should tell you which one you prefer.

The first one is so casual IMO. I feel like if it was a different color you could wear that to any event.
The second one definitely has more wow factor! Love the detailing and I think it goes amazingly with your rainforest venue.

I like the second dress better but it sounds like you like the first one. Go with your gut, it’s your day and you can’t do it over! Choose the one you feel best in and the one you’re most drawn to.

The first dress reminds me of white eyelet summer dresses that everyone wears around here in the summer. I truly wouldn’t have thought it was a traditional wedding dress from a shop. If this kind of casual look is what you are going for, it looks really good on you.
