Ladies, I need your help. I can’t seem to make up my mind on a B&B for our first anniversary weekend. Darling Husband and I are going to Fredericksburg, which is a short drive from SA, to do some exploring and have a nice weekend drinking wine and relaxing. We wanted the following from a B&B: walking distance to downtown shopping/food/wine bars, whirlpool tub for two, a little privacy, and a room in our price range. Actually getting that second B (breakfast) was negotiable, and wifi is a perk.
Both these places have pros and cons, both are lovely and in our price range, and I’m close to flipping a coin. Darling Husband, of course, says, “Whatever you want, Baby.” That phrase can be a blessing and a curse!
The first place I love is called Eli’s. http://austinstreetretreat.com/elis-2/
Pros: It’s HUGE, and the look and feel just appeals to me more. Tub looks fabulous. It has wifi. Darling Husband likes it. More secluded location, thus quieter. Look at that fireplace!
Cons: Loooong walk from the places we want to go. Darling Husband knows the town and says we would more than likely want to drive and leave the car closer to the places we will be stopping at. Also, no breakfast. According to a review it shares a wall with another room.
The second place is Sophie’s Suite, which is a converted garage, and it’s smack dab on the corner of Main St. and another main road in town. http://www.travelmainstreet.com/sophie-suite-cottage/
Pros: LOCATION is perfect. $10 cheaper a night. Breakfast vouchers ($7/person) to a little cafe for each day you stay. So we would get two vouchers each. It stands alone and doesn’t share walls with another suite. It has the tub I want 🙂
Cons: Much smaller than the other place. On a busy road, and some reviews have complained about noise. The tub right by the bed? Weird. No wifi. Darling Husband didn’t really have a reaction when I showed him the place.
What do I do, bees? What would you pick?
