Hi all! We’ve narrowed down my extremely extensive search to two photographers. Both are offering 8 hrs of coverage, two shooters (second one being another professional wedding photgrapher with similar quality/style), full rights to all photos, betwen 800-1000+ images, and an engagement session. Both have great reviews. There is a $400 difference between the two and I don’t want that to be the deciding factor. Please let me know which one you prefer solely based on their portfolios. We could really use the opinions of people that don’t know the price difference. Thanks! 🙂

I would choose Michele. Her work seems a bit more artistic/frame worthy and the quality of the editing is quite a bit better, in my opinion.

I would definitely pick Michele – that portfolio has more light and life to me. I like those a lot more.

FutureMrsDM: I prefer the first, but it’s very difficult to say without seeing a full wedding by either.

It’s a toss up for me so I did not vote. Both seem to capture great moments and I like both of their styles. If everything is equal then go with the one whose personality jives the best with you and your FH. I can’t see you being disappointed in either photographer’s work.

I’m surprised people like michele’s editing better? I think Julie’s use of light and color is 10x’s better. (I’m a photographer as well.)
but really, you should meet with both and pick the person whose personality you like better if you’re this torn between them.

I didn’t look, but
cateyes: is onto it, personality is a big factor so meet them if you can.

Also, have you checked they are both available on your day?

cateyes: flossy.lou: I have talked to both on the phone/email and they seem really nice and a good match for my OCD tendencies, lol. I can’t meet them without traveling 1.5 hours for one and 3 hours for the other. :/ And yes, they are both available for our day 🙂

I really like Julie. Michele’s work looks really stock-image to me, whereas Julie has some very iconic photos.

I like Michelle’s shooting style better. More creative angles, everything is centered. Everything looks more aristic vs point and shoot.

FutureMrsDM: I prefer Julie’s work. Even her posed shots have an element of spontaneity.

FutureMrsDM: As a wedding photographer myself – I prefer Michele. All that being said, I not a huge fan of the fact that the opening shot on her website is a ring shot where the focus is off. The center stone is not in focus, which shows that either she doesn’t always nail focus, or her attention to detail is lacking. I wasn’t over impressed with Julie, but I don’t think she’s a bad photographer. I think Michele has a more aesthetically pleasing website, which probably helps. Either way, you should see a COMPLETE wedding from both of them.

FutureMrsDM: okay, I like Julie because she has a blog filled with work! You can see her style in many different settings and I like that. Michele has better pictures on her website..but no blog. That concerns me a little. Anyone can put up 30-40 of their best shots in a wedding work album. I wish she had a blog.

They both have nice work.
If I’m being nit-picky I think Julie sometimes suffers from color balance being slightly off, and Michele seems to overuse a glow effect and I saw tilted horizons in both of their work.
I personally feel more personality from Julie’s work, Michele has very nice images but they lack some emotion for me.
