So my cake tasting is in about a week and a half. So excited. Love cake.
Anyways I need to email over 3-4 combos to sample. My cake is 3 tiers, so I think I can have different cake tiers
So far I’m thinking white cake with strawberry mousse and fresh strawberries. Buttercream icing over the whole cake.
I know I want to try red velvet but I’m not sure of the filling for it!
Tell me what y’all would try! & what your wedding cake is/was! I want to try and pick options that lots of people will like, but also have something a little unique maybe!
I have to just link a photo of the menu because weddingbee won’t let me upload a photo.. Sorry!

It’s a cream cheese filling for the red velvet. 🙂

Strawberry and white cake sounds yummy! I personally like white or vanilla buttercream with red velvet, but it’s often paired with cream cheese buttercream. We had chocolate cake with hazelnut and sour cream vanilla cake with cookies and cream, plus strawberry cake pops.

KittyCatToe: I know that’s what it typically is, but i didn’t see that on the list! I was thinking dark or white chcolate might be really good with it!

cls9q: I thought the same thing and it was actually our most popular flavor. Apparently we had a lot of Nutella fans on our guest list lol.

cls9q: White chocolate! I would also call and check on the flavors. If they do a red velvet cake I would think they would have the traditional filling for it.

cls9q: Red velvet traditionally receives a cream cheese filling. And as for strawberry filling with white cake…Mmmmmmm!
Also, with the flavors you posted: I’m a HUGE fan of sweet almond cake with raspberry filling, but I know that not everyone is in to that sort of thing, especially if you have anyone with nut allergies who is coming to your wedding. Lemon poppy seed with raspberry would also be delicious!
You could also do like a death by chocolate sort of thing with dark chocolate cake, hazlenut filling, and chocolate ganache.
I’m now officially in the mood for some cake!

Actually believe it or not the almond is a fruit not a nut, so should be ok. I had a chocolate orange cake the other day, it was amazing!

cls9q: Haha me too! Or sweet almond with hazlenut? YUM.
Also, I just realized that you don’t have a cream cheese icing listed. I’ve had red velvet with white chocolate filling and that is also super delicious!

cls9q: Try the white chocolate! I make a cream cheese based frosting with white chocolate for my red velvet stuff at home – it’s amazing. People rave about it. So, based on the options, that’s what I’d recommend for that cake flavor.

We are also doing a chocolate with hazelnut tier, so there’s another vote for that haha!
Our other tier will be vanilla with vanilla custard and fresh strawberries.

cls9q: Here’s what we’re doing: 1st tier – white cake with strawberry filling, 2nd tier – lemon cake with lemon preserves and raspberry filling, 3rd tier – carrot cake, 4th tier – chocolate cake with mocha cream. Everything will be covered in white buttercream. Should be good!
We tasted the following cake: vanilla, chocolate, spice, white, hazelnut, almond, lemon, red velvet, carrot
We tasted the following fillings: chocolate buttercream, mocha buttercream, Seedless Raspberry, Chocolate Ganache, Lemon, Mocha, Cream Cheese Butter Cream, Peanut Butter Cup, Chocolate Mousse, German Chocolate, Strawberries and Champagne, Caramel Cream
Each piece of our cake will have four layers so we were able to do, for say the 2nd tier of lemon cake, one filling of raspberry and two of lemon (or vice versa, can’t remember). Just keep in mind that you may be able to mix fillings and flavors to add more pizzazz, better suit your tastes, etc!
