I’m getting a ring customized by an Etsy seller (RareEarth). I have everything decided on except the metal. Should I get it in palladium or rose gold? Does anyone have experience with either of these metals, or have an opinion on what they think would look best with this setting? I’ve attached the mock-up below. It’ll be set with an 8mm round forever brilliant moissanite, and I have a site 8 finger, if that helps.

I’m partial to rose gold because my ring is rose gold, but I love the contrast that it gives against the stones.

I think the rose gold will look gorgeous! Really make the stone pop!

I love rose gold. As for white metal I like white gold and don’t care for the gray color of palladium.

I really love rose gold, but mine is rose gold so I’m kind of biased.

A lot of jewelers will not work with palladium and outright recommend against it. I realize a lot of bees have, and love, palladium, but personally I would go with the rose gold. It will look amazing with your stone.

mrssloan2013: Well I’m getting the ring from Etsy so I can’t exactly go get a white gold ring replated from her, and platinum is out of my price range, sooooo

desss: She definitely works with palladium.
I was always leaning towards a rose gold ring, but she did the mock-up in palladium and it does look great. And since it’s channel set, I’ve heard that the whiter metals don’t show the gaps between the stones as much. Which I don’t care about, but I know a lot of people hate that about channel set rings.

I like rose gold better, and it would be easier to find a local jeweler to work with it. But my own experience with moissy in rose gold was not my fav. I find moissy clashes with rose gold and it bring out the funky tones… I think yellow and white metals are more flattering with moissanite.

If it were a choice between rose and platinum my decision would be different. Palladium is not my fave metal and a lot of places don’t like to work with it, which is a big fat huge negative.
Plus, rose gold is sooo pretty.

I would go with rose gold. I think that setting is gorgeous! I have all white gold so that’s definitely what I would go with for a white affordable metal but I understand what you mean about having to get it rhodium plated.

I have a platinum e-ring and palladium wedding ring–after a while the platinum gets a matte finish to it (that can be buffed out, but who has time for that?), so you can barely see the difference between the two, even right next to each other.
I think white metals are more classice and rose gold is very trendy. I think in 10-15 years (or sooner), they will go out of style. So I think with such a classic looking ring, it would look better in palladium.

minniegrace: I would get rose gold. I think it looks prettier

- Wedding: A very pretty church.
minniegrace: Do they work with Palladium White Gold? That’s a white gold alloy that is a little greyer, but doesn’t need to be plated…
