Hey Bees… I’ve got your standard engagement photo outfit dilemma. I’m trying to pick two outfits from three options. I don’t want us to be casual… Fiance will base his outfit choice on mine (and he’s super stylish so I’m not worried about him at all.)
We’re shooting at an old cotton mill factory (think exposed brick, pipes etc… here are some examples of the building: http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2859/8782429725_944e325429_o.jpg and https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3902/15147809560_711311ce6e_o.jpg ) Sorry about the grubby mirror! My 5 year old likes to make ‘pictures’ with his fingers lol
Option 1 pleated skirt – I’d probably wear it with tights and boots… too casual?

Option 2 charcoal dress … too plain? I kinda dig the ribbing pattern

Option 3 gold dress (I forgot to take a picture of me in this) … too gold? lol

Okay lay it on me! Which ones do you like

I think the top one could potentially blend in too much with any red brickwork that you have photos taken near.

I like the 2nd option best. The first one looks too matronly. Maybe try a different shirt? The third one is just ok, I don’t think it will do anything for your figure.

<br />FreshBakedPi: 2 and 3 would be awesome! I agree with a PP, you might blend in too much with that first one. I love that location!

cpick: I see exactly what you mean! Thanks for bringing that up!
IzzyBear: Matronly!! Eek lol…well I’m in my early 30’s but I definitely don’t want to look matronly! Thanks for the feedback!
RedHeadKel: It’s so neat right? Huge too… the building takes up almost a whole block. They have the original huge scales they used way back when the trains would bring the cotton right into the building. Lot’s of neat history!

The first one looks a bit like school uniform to me. I much prefer the 2nd option

FreshBakedPi: The first one looks too teacher/school girl. The second dress looks great. I would just accessorize. The third is not bad, but it might make you look kind of shapeless in the photos.

LaPetiote: Thanks for the feedback! I get to have two outfits for this shoot and it seems like Dress 2 is a definite winner for one of them. Now to figure out the second option! I’m popping home for lunch and will comb through my closet to see what else I can find for a second option.

Okay so Option 2 is a definite yes. Just gotta figure out the second outfit! Do you guys prefer this over the gold dress?
Option 4 silk jumper dress

Again, sorry for the picture quality and mirror here. Lighting is horrible in my hallway when it’s an overcast day.
I also have this dress… I had originally picked it up for maybe the rehearsal dinner or shower but I suppose it could work… Option 5… too similar to Option 2?

And last one… Option 6 lace dress… too ‘bridal’?

FreshBakedPi: I would go with the charcole dress. Option 1 looks like the brady bunch, and option 3 doesn’t look like it will do anything for your figure.

Love Option 5–but if you want to save it for your rehearsal dinner it would be very pretty there too. I think there is something to be said about wearing something sleek for photos in such an industrial setting

I LOVE that third dress. I don’t think the gold is too much, and it would stand out beautifully against the richer reds of the background and add a bit of unexpected glam to what would otherwise be a somewhat gritty place.

starfish0116: Yup… I’m going with the charcoal but I get two outfits so just gotta figure out number two
cvaldes13: Sleek and industrial definitely work… you’re right. It would be a nice juxtaposition!
