So I seem to have a whole wardrobe full of clothes but nothing to wear! The shoot is in a garden type area in the city with views of city landmarks. Warm weather, in the afternoon. We have a few outfit options so far. Fiance would wear jeans and black dress-shoes, with a choice of shirt colour. Here are the photos. I’ve added a poll, if you could also comment with suggestions that would be awesome. Thanks!
Dress 1: light pink (with tan colour heels)
Dress 2: Maroon (with black heels) (possibly too formal?)
I don’t know if the two maroons go together though. My dress is a little purpler than his shirt.
Our photographer suggested white but neither of us look any good in white. The only other options I can think of is either a grey shirt for Fiance and/or for me: skinny jeans, knee-high boots and a casual top (either teal/green (greener and brighter than FI’s shirt) or a black one which is a bit more formal but I wear it all the time).

I think the lace maroon dress is definitely too formal and a bit too dark/aging to be honest. I always feel like engagement shoots (especially outdoors ones) should look very fresh and romantic…and the pink dress is really perfect for that. I also think it’s more flattering and probably a bit more comfortable too. I would match that with a grey shirt for your Fiance, I love blush and grey together.

peonyinparis: thanks for your suggestion. The maroon dress does actually look very elegant but I think too formal for an outdoor afternoon engagement shoot. I’m concerned that the pink dress might make me look younger though (I already look like I’m still 17!)

I would put your Darling Husband in a grey shirt like mentioned, and opt for the skinny jeans & top for you.
What about something like this for you:
With your Fiance in white shirt?

I am a fan of white dresses for engagement pics too but if you dont like white I like the light pink, or something soft and pastel. I prefer solids, they simply photograph better, patterns and prints draw attention away from the subject, which is you guys:) aand they make photos look too busy and instead of looking professional they will end up looking like ust regular photos you took together, trust me on this! You have a great figure, so I would wear an A line dress sillouhette to play up your top half and show off the assets, while still looking classy of course. If you have the time and want to get something new, Modcloth has great little dresses that are inexpensive and so cute or another fav of mine is Dillards and Macys online…you can buy from the juniors department and save some $$. Dillards carries extended juniors sizes now on so many dresses..you look tiny though so I dont think it matters in your case. As for your Fiance, I am a fan of putting guys in long sleeve collared shirts and jeans for these pics, they always turn out looking so good a tad dressed up!
Here are some that I think would look fantastic on you:)
I loveeeee this dress, it will flatter every figure, no worries about crazy arm angles or anything with this dress..in the pink/peach color of course:)

Oh and I am with the other poster on a grey shirt (long sleeve color button down, light grey) for your Fiance if you choose blush color, it will look great!

Thanks for the suggestions everybody. I’ve literally spent the last 3 hours at the nearest shopping centre and in the end only came out with one top! So I’m pretty frustrated right now. For the dresses, I need heels because my Fiance is super tall and I am super short, but I have tiny feet and can’t find any that fit me and aren’t too high. Also I can’t wear v-neck tops/dresses because they make me look even more flat chested. The shoot is on Wednesday so I don’t have any more time to find the right shoes or another dress. So it looks like I’ll be going with the skinny jeans, boots and probably the dark purple shirt I bought today, with either a grey or light purple shirt for Fiance. Does that sound ok?

I love the pink dress, I think it’s perfect!! I think pale pink and dark teal go together nicely IMO.

I think skinny jeans would be perfect. The maroon dress is pretty but formal and the pink dress reminds me of something for church or Easter (I don’t know why).

copperbird90: I think that sounds great:) You will look beautiful , just remmeber to have fun and the pics will show it. I would take the pink dress along too, just in case you need it! Never hurts to be prepared and always have options:) Post some pics when you get em, so we can see! xx

I think the pink/maroon combo looks nice, and slightly matches together.
