It’s now my 10 year anniversary and in the market for buying an anniversary band. The engagement ring I bought was a 1 carat round solitaire Tiffany/Cartier style platinum ring. I went to a jeweler today and the ring I’m interested in is the “channel bead setting” (so none of the diamonds are “covered”). Here the pricing:
FINGER to FINGER .50 Carat Round Diamonds
12 x 0.04 diamonds round
Platinum = $1500
14K White Gold = $1050
9 x .06 diamonds round
Platinum = $1950
14K White Gold = $1350
1. Would 0.04 and 0.06 visually make a big difference?
2. Will the nine 0.06 diamonds over power the solitaire?
3. Is the EXTRA $$ for plat worth it? My Budget was around $1000 +/-
4. Will the channel bead setting hurt the brilliance?
5. Of the options above, what would you guys get?

When I was looking at anniversary bands I personally liked the look of the 6 pointers, and my e-ring was a 1ct solitaire so similar to what you have.
I didn’t think that size overpowered my ring at all.
I personally like platinum but there’s nothing wrong with gold.
The edges will be covered up a bit with the channel set, so I was going to get a prong set band so you could see the entire diamond.

By 6 pointers you mean 0.06 carats? 🙂
Yea, that was my concern with the channel setting, so its not a tradition channel — its a shared prong setting with a channel wall that doesn’t lap over the stone. So you’ll see the full diamond.
btw, I miss snow in winter 🙂

I cant post a pic cause I am on my iPhone but if u look up some of my past posts you can see my band. It is .75 ct and 15 stones which equals .05 each. My ering is 1ct and the width is 4mm and my bands are 3mm. Hope that helps

GelaMac, i tried looking but couldn’t find your picture :-
When WG and Plat wear out — won’t they wear different colors? WG will become yellow and Plat will become greyish? Does anyone have a picture of how these two metals wear?

I just went the jewelers, he should be both castings — the 6 point’s band was too thick when compared to the e-ring. GelMac’s ring looks nice partly because her e-ring band is wider. The 6 points band compared to the e-ring just looked bleh. So I went with 4 points. It should be ready tomorrow. Wish me luck folks!
