I don’t think videography is important.  I didn’t have it.  For me, photographs were sufficient, and already expensive enough.  If it’s very important to you, can’t you or your Fiance pay for it yourself?

Try finding some examples of professionally-done videos to show your parents.  Any videographer’s website should have some examples for sharing.  This may give them an idea of what they’ll get for the money and why it’s worth it.  You could also say that you don’t want to put the burden of videography on your family members because you want them to enjoy the event and not worry about videos.

I don’t think a videographer is most important, but if it’s what you want then you should probably try to dig up some videos to show

I agree with bleusteel. Show your parents some examples. Maybe they think wedding videos still look like they did when they got married. I think that video is just as important as photos now. We did DIY video and I regret it. I do watch my video, but wish I had something better. My sister got a pro video and it’s is great. We all watch it a lot – I actually watch her video more than mine. Don’t let your parents tell you it’s not worth it if it’s important to you.

They don’t really need to understand right now…find and pay for a videographer, and when the wedding is over and you show it to them I’m sure they’ll see what makes it so special!

If it is really that important to you both, I wouldn’t even waste the time and energy trying to convince your parents – simply pay for it yourselves.

I would not worry about changing their minds now. Just pay for it yourself. Then after the wedding let them watch it and then when they comment on how wonderful something looks. Just smile because in the end you were right and maybe say “I told you so.”
