And not an insideous kind! The surprise present kind! 😛
My SO and I have our Anniversary at the end of February. I already have his present. I bought him front section floor tickets to see his favorite comedian in our city in March. I also bought him specialty Stella Artois glasses since it’s his favorite beer. I’ve hidden the tickets inside the beer glasses box to throw off suspicion.
What I need help with, is getting him to not book anything for the weekend of the comedian’s show. He hasn’t been on one of his sporting car events in over a year, and so he briefly mentioned wanting to do one, that happens to fall on the weekend of the show. You have to register and pay in advanced and fees are not returned, so I can’t let him sign up now and cancel later.
I’ve wracked my brain and am coming up blank with an excuse that is large enough to stop him from signing up.
I can’t use my any work related event excuse, because he knows my work doesn’t have any until late spring.
The event is a Friday night btw.
And thank you for any help. It’s appreciated. :]

I would tell him there is something planned that he has to attend and it’s on such and such date and that is all you can tell him. He will still be surprised.

Do you have a friend/sibling/parent that SO doesn’t know the birthday of? Pretend that they’re having a party
Tell him that you signed you both up to plant a tree with a government sponsored community outreach, and it’s at like 6pm that Friday (Ive legit actually done this, so it’s a thing :P)
Hmm, I’ll try to think of more

Can you involve the sporting car event people? Try contacting them. Tell them you want to surprise him and ask if it is possible for them to tell him that the event is sold out if he tries to register?

@Coral99: He’d want a specific reason sadly. He is very intent on going.
@julies1949: I thought of doing that, but the registration is automatic so I dont think they can block entry when it first opens, and he always signs up the second it does. Plus I would feel awkward asking someone to turn away a lot of money in business as the weekends can be expensive sometimes. O.o
@VivienMarcheline: lol @ tree planting. I can already see the ‘you must be joking/crazy’ look on his face. He totally wouldnt believe me. XD The birthday party is a good idea though. I just remembered that I have a friend who’s actual birthday is within a few days of the date!
