So, after 8 years my boyfriend finally proposed (woohoo). I’m a hard person to shop for, so he figured we could choose an engagement ring together. We’ve so far narrowed it down to two rings.
I’m a complete newbie when it comes to engagement rings and I went to every jewelry shop in town just to get some ideas and they have nothing that appeals to me or is comparable to what I’m looking at online. I’m torn between the two rings above because I really like the ring with the diamonds on the side of the band, but I’m not sure if it’ll stick up too high? I don’t mind height, I just don’t want to impale myself, haha. I like bling but I don’t want to look like a Real Housewife wannabe. On the other hand, I like the simpler, lower ring, but it is just that, simple… and I don’t like rings where the band is really narrow with a large center stone which it looks like it *might be*, but it’s hard to say. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I personally like the second one better. My ring doesn’t stick up that high, and nearly a month later I’m still getting used to it getting stuck on things. They both look pretty similar from afar, so the practical side of me (I also have a moissy) says that for looks, I’d save the money and get the one that doesn’t stick up as much. They’re both beautiful!

I personally like eng689 but I think it’s just because of the price difference and I am very frugal lol. But seriously they look very similar and one is over $1500 more…
I have one ring that has a higher profile and its always getting caught on everything! It could just be that the prongs need to be tightened though. You should add a poll.

I like the second one better.

I like the first one better, the one with the row of stones on the inside of the ring. Congratulations on your engagement. I have a threestone moissy ring and I love the stones they are so gorgeous in person.

I’d try to find as similar as possible to try on just to make sure you like that style on your hand.
Here’s some photos of the eng689 ring on a real hand. http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/my-ring-is-here-but-pics/#axzz3CHVf2gDw

I like the second one better, I like rings with a low profile. But I don’t think the other ring would be overly high. Get the one you like best. If you end up not loving it, it can be returned so go for it.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I decided to order the square cut equivalent of the 689 which is the 179a. Now, to wait… ugh.
