That is such a personal choice.  I love the way rounds sparkle, but I also love the way princess solitaires look and I prefer a princess solitaire to a round one.

If this is important to you, a princess will look smaller than a round of the same weight because most of the weight in a princess cut is in the bottom of the stone.

Round is so classic.  I can’t post a picture from work but maybe I’ll remember when I get home.  I have a round solitaire with a channel-set halfish eternity wedding band.

That’s really hard to say…just depends on your personal taste. I prefer round myself. But princess will look very nice too.

I have a .75 princess cut, and I don’t think it looks small on my hand at all. I  love my princess cut, and it sparkles like crazy!

TO – Mrs. Gremmlin: GORGEOUS Ring… don’t believe I’ve seen it before here on WBee.  And a unique setting with the Princess on the diagonal.

@This Time Round:  Thanks! I really love it. When we went to look at the rings, the jeweler couldn’t get the diamond set “correctly,” but I loved it kite set– so that was my one requirement for Darling Husband.

that is something no one can choose for u! u just have to decide what u like better. i have always known that i wanted a round solitaire on a plain tiffany style band. its is SO timeless. it will be in style forever! also, if u read on the difference between the cuts of the shapes, most willl indicate that the round is the most sparkly just by virtue of the shape (not saying that the other 3 c’s do not affect that, and so either shape can be more sparkly than the other just depending on the characteristics). both r completely beautiful. so if ur a modern girl, then the princess might be a better route, but if u like classic, then round is more appropriate in my opinion. although u can even take a round stone and modern it up by putting in on a more square style band.

TO – mjradd14:  Most definitely a personal preference.  My first time round I had a Round Brilliant Diamond, this time round, I was pretty sure I wanted something different and was seriously considering either a Marquise or a Ideal Princess (maybe even a Princess Quad).

But in the end it all came down to the Ring itself, and the setting in my situation (I knew I didn’t want a Solitaire, as I had one the first time).  So as the setting was best served by a Round Brilliant that is where I ended up (altho we did do a Canadian Diamond)

As country chic: has said there will be a difference in size between these two cuts of Diamonds… an Ideal Cut 1.00 Carat Round Brilliant would have an aprox Diameter of 6.5 MM, while an Ideal Cut 1.00 Carat Ideal Princess would be aprox 5.5 MM across.

    Hope this helps,

I’ve voted round, but I’m definitely biased because my e-ring is a round brilliant solitaire and it sparkles like crazy!  Smile  I can’t take a pic at the moment because it’s at the jeweller’s while my wedding band is made to fit.
