I could really use some input on this one. I definitely want to DIY all of the floral things for the wedding, but I don’t want real flowers. For one, no one in my family has ever done flower substitutions and I’m really excited about the prospect. For two, my colors are navy and copper and there are no navy and copper flowers, as many florists have told me. However, I’m a wee bit undecided. What do you ladies prefer to see? Our wedding is a little on the formal side, I’m wearing a white organza dress, BMs are wearing navy and FI/GMs are wearing charcoal grey. Thoughts so very welcome. Thank you in advance! Inspirational sort of photos are below:

I should say that these photos are from other bees that have posted their own diy projects, and to you, I say thank you. I really love all three of these photos!

I personally prefer paper flowers BUT that may be b/c my bouquet was paper…
Out of the 3 pics I definitely prefer the fabric AND I think it woudl fit the formality of your wedding better.
If you do decide to go with paper I would add another kind of flower in the bouquet to go along with the kusudama. I used rolled roses & the kusudama all different sizes to work for the “shaping” of the bouquet.
Here’s a pic of mine for reference

@runsyellowlites: Thank you so much! I remember going through some of the photos you had posted of your paper flowers and they were also gorgeous. Everything that I remember seeing from your wedding was really lovely 🙂

if you have a bit of a whimsical flair in your decor, I say go for the paper because I love how well those boquets photgraph. But it sounds a bit more formal, those pearls would really pop with the Navy dresses and go very well together. That’s the first pearl bouquet I’ve seen before and it’s gorgeous! Maybe do fabric flowers for the bouts?

mine are paper too 😉 but way different

I think paper would be too informal, given your wedding.
The pearl bouquets are beautiful, but you’ll run into the same color problem since I don’t think you can get copper or navy pearls either.
Fabric seems the best option.

i would say pearls- maybe white with some sparkle for you, and you should be able to find dyed glass pearls in copper tones- some of those for bridesmaids?

@shel_lee_1: Aw, your flowers look really lovely!
@kala_way: I’ve been able to find some copper and navy-colored pearls. Yay for things like ebay!
@beignet: Thank you for the input! Or maybe, since the girls are wearing navy, create some sort of brooch-y looking accent for their dresses?

Love the paper ones – want to do that type of bouquet myself!

How about a mix of Fabric and Pearls? Or Feathers? I’ve seen some gorgeous feather bouquets on the internet, just type in Feather Bouquets in google and search icons.

@Cariad: I was thinking the same thing…a mix of fabric and pearls.
