I vote solitare as I don’t particularly care for halos.  A nice 2ct stone standing on it’s own will look spectacular on your finger!

I vote solitaire, it’s such a classic style. I may be biased however because I’m not a fan of halos

I vote solitaire, but I don’t really like halos for larger stones. The way I look at it, if you’re getting a big 2 carat stone, let it be the star.

I vote solitaire, although that halo is gorgeous, and I do wish you could try them both on- it seems like it would be clear if they were on your finger.

Have you tried the coin flip trick?

Heads for halo, tails for solitaire. Flip a coin. See what you get. If you’re disappointed go with the opposite. This trick helps you figure out what you actually want.

I have a BE princess cut solitaire with side diamonds very much like the one in your picture. I asolutely adore it.  Mine is 1 ct. and IMO looks pretty substaintial on my 4.5 finger. Good luck on your decision!

storms :  Hey, nice to see another Chicago suburb Bee!

I love halos (I have one myself) but in this case I would go with the solitaire.  A 2ct princess does not show as large as some other shapes because all the weight is in the bottom of the stone.  So a 2ct princess is only 7mm, which is about the size of a 1.25ct round.  A stone that size isn’t going to look gaudy at all.

storms :  I like the solitaire pavé band, it shows off the stone better.

I vote solitaire. The stone pops more without the halo.

Given how you describe your style/personality, I think the halo seems more “you”.

storms :  solitaire all the way. I think that sometimes princess cuts don’t look quite right with a halo

Solitaire.

I think bigger stones just look nicer and more prominent without a bunch of stuff around them. I think a halo tends to look a little odd on a princess cut too, jmo.
