I am in desperate need of help deciding between two dresses I love.
The first is a more traditional, romantic lace dress (I would be altering it to make the neckline more of a sweetheart/rounded neckline as opposed to a v-neck, and would be trying to make it a little more defined like a drop waist.) I found this at a local bridal shop and it is by an independent designer who is part of the COAN Couture label.
The second dress is a fun, flirty organza dress from the new White by Vera Wang line at David’s Bridal (VW351090 – http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_One-Shoulder-Basket-Weave-Organza-Gown-VW351090_Bridal-Gowns-Shop-By-Designer-White-by-Vera-Wang). I initially was only looking at lace dresses, but I saw the VW dress and fell in LOVE!
EDIT: I’ve added a 3rd dress which was my runner up (VW351062 – http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Organza-Gown-with-Fern-Embroidery-and-Net-Overlay-VW351062_Bridal-Gowns-Shop-By-Designer-White-by-Vera-Wang), and I wasn’t really considering but want to throw it out there (a) so ladies can see the dress and (b) to see if it’s a sleeper favorite (it’s growing on me as I look at pictures.)
Dress #1 – Lace:
Dress 2 – Organza w/ petals:
Dress 3 – Organza w/ fern detail:
I am so torn! Your help is appreciated!!

Really love dress number 2. It’s so flattering on your, and absolutely GORGEOUS!

hmmm..I like them both. Voted #1..its more flattering…

Do you want to make dress #1 strapless? I think the alterations you’re talking about are risky so I voted for dress #2

I should clarify:
There are a lot of alterations I’d need to make for dress #1, but I wouldn’t be turning it into a strapless. I’d be rounding the cups and slightly thinning the straps to make it more of a sweetheart neckline (but would not be turning it into a strapless.) This might be hard, though, because there is an organza overlay on the neckline of dress #1.
I’d also be having to take it in quite a bit because it’s a discontinued sample which is quite big on me. Finally, I plan on wearing converse under my dress…this hasn’t really deterred me from any particular type of dress but is something to consider.

I can’t say because I can’t picture #1 with the alterations your describing, and I’m not a fan of the weird ruffle on #2, and #3 just seems too plain compared to the other 2… I say look around a little more.

@o0olibelulao0o: Thanks for the advice. I feel like I’ve looked at TOO MANY dresses at this point, and am going a little crazy. I will definitely take suggestions, but in my budget (no more than $1500 with alterations) these are the best options I’ve found. I was interested in a couple other dresses with more beading, but I’ve found that too much beading (especially on the sides of a dress) were super itchy and it is very important for me to be comfortable at my wedding.

I voted for #2 but I just saw you added #3! That is far and away my favorite on you. It is also one of my favorite dresses, period. I tried it on and it did nothing for me, but it looks like it was made for you!

I really like dress 2, but I think dress 3 looks best on you. It gives you a great figure.

Your posture and stature is better in dress 2 so I don’t know if that makes a difference between my decision to pick 2 over 1. But you look elegant in 2. Plus the alterations for 1 sound like you want to make that another dress, in which that case, I’d just look for a dress closer to your needs than dropping hundreds on alterations or settling for one of the other 2.

Definitely definitely #1!!

I really like the 3rd runner-up, the ferm dress. I think it’s by far the most flattering of the three.
The straps on the lace don’t do anything for you at all (strapless/one strap is far more flattering), and while I like the fit of the organza-and-petals, my eyes go immediately to the petals at your hips and I feel it makes you look wider at that point (sorry, I had to go back and look at event he neckline, all I saw was the hips).
The shape of the #3 is far more flattering; although I would say #2 if you could remove the petals somehow
