Hello ladies. So I want advice. My reception is at a community center type place (small budget) and I need help decorating. My wedding is October 22, 2011. My colors are peacock teal and grey. The theme is peacock but I don’t want to over do it. I will not sit on the stage, I will sit at the table with my bridal party and their dates. I will provide pictures of the space and let you know what I have so far. Any advice or suggestions are welcome and please don’t laugh at my space . I plan on buying more flowers and prefer most of the decor to be low to faclitate talking among my guests, maybe one taller centerpiece in the middle for drama. The wedding will start at around 1pm and end around 5 or 6 pm.
Have: 90×132 white tablecloths(tables are 6ft), white chair covers, stemmed tea light holders (you know the dollar tree ones), 3×3 short square glass candle holders (that I was gonna use for a low centerpiece with flowers), teal ribbon, my card box, and teal napkins.

Is there any way to get black tablecloths & chair covers instead of white? I think this would give you a better background with whatever you do. Then you could get teal runners and go from there.
Check classifieds section as some brides sell there already used items maybe you can find things there.

I love when people drape fabric on the ceiling. It gives the room a real ethereal feel! I bet you could get sheer ivory or white fabric on sale at a craft store. Just tack it up, and every 10 feet or so tack it up again – kind of like streamers! Here’s a pic…google “ceiling draping” and you’ll find a ton of images.

With white cloths, and white chair covers, your colors will really pop.
The concept of tablescaping looks great on long rectangular tables. You are already half way there with the thought of having your low centerpieces and something taller in the middle.
You could use runners or long barnboards down the length of the table as a base for everything else.
Instead of using runners, or long boards down the length of the table, you could use ribbon. This would be an opportunity to bring in the gray. Run lengths of ribbon down and across the table in an interesting design.
(maybe not as much as this one) LOL
for the square vases, you could line them with a tropical leaf , then use flowers of the colors you want.
I would do solid colors rather than a mix like this
Then scatter other things related to your theme down the length of the table
little figurines etc
For the taller centerpiece in the middle, you could use peacock feathers for a literal interpretation
or just pick out one of the colors and use that, in this case, green
or you could do a branch centerpiece with a few silk flowers glued on

@blingybride: I love the color board you attached, unfortunately my Fiance wants to keep the colors bright and is not a fan of black or brown.
@PollyPlanner: I love that and may give it a try, maybe lanterne???
@julies1949: Those are amazing. Probably my vision only better. Lets see if I can do this right.

Here are my thoughts for what they are worth!
I think a teal napkins lined like in the picture with white table cloths would look nic.
And the one taller centerpiece like the one in this picture but in your colors (maybe some peacock feathers coming out of the top?
If you get a square box or vase you can put black cloth over it and an teal or color ribbon thru the center and put low flower.
you can set up the rectangle tables with tea lights on the end in 3’s then the low box w flowers, some more tea lights, box, then the center pieces with something scattered around it and do the same on the other side.
This is what I mean by wrapping in black fabric and teal ribbon
Here are some flower ideas
Or you can use the extra ribbon like this for small vases or teal ice and feathers or candles

I just want to SECOND the ceiling fabric idea from @PollyPlanner emphatically. I think the biggest “issue” with the room is that it feels like a meeting room with the ho-hum ceiling tiles and lights. The ceiling fabric will give the room a much softer feel and the lights being all on a couple of lines really shouldn’t make it that hard. Then you might want to think about using some mirrors on the tables to help make the room a little brighter and get some bang for your buck on the centerpieces.

I think draping the ceiling with fabric would really make an enormous differance! For even more of a dramatic look you could drape fabric in your colors, perhaps a nice deep teal. I’d also get deep teal table runners and run the candles down the length, using a floral arrangment every few feet or so. I personally would do deep purple and lime flowers for the smaller arrangments. On every table in the center I’d do a tall arrangment of peacock feathers. I’d also get sashes to go with the chair covers.
I think you have a great blank canvas to put your stamp on!

I would suggest you to have Teal table covers with Peacock color chairs cover with gray ribbons………and you can use peacock, and teal and dark pink color paper lanterns……..
And on table centerpiece you can use small height vase with mix color flowers and crystals……….You can use silk flowers so that you can have them in the color you want them to……….like teal, peacock, green, dark ping and all……….

Thank you ladies for all your ideas. It seems as though I have to do some type of fabric draping. I can’t wait to post a pic for you all to see after I have it done. 🙂

I think that some lighting could really help the space. This can sometimes be done pretty inexpensively. Good luck!
