What about a decongestant?

Decongestants!  Pseudoephedrine and guiafenasen. Take them religiously, as directed.

Hot shower, steam and humidity.

Stay hydrated to keep the fluid moving: drink water and hot tea.

One time I had a terrible ear infection and my dad blew smoke from a cigar in it, which is apparently some old wives tale kind of thing and it actually helped some.

I have heard coconut oil is for ear aches, but I always take a cotton ball and put some olive oil on it and put it in my ear. Then I lay on a heating pad.

I second everything people have already suggested, but I’d also add that if that pain is that bad I’d go to the ER- your eardrum could rupture.

If you don’t mind smelling a little funky, I’ve heard that onion juice works for earaches…onions have antibacterial properties.

If your ear pain is piercing/uber uncomfortable, I’d consider going to an Urgent Care.  I would hate for you to rupture your eardrum doing some silly “remedy” you heard of online.  Good luck, girlie!

Go to Urgent Care! I had a severe ear infection this past summer that progressed VERY quickly. I went to my doc at the first sign of pain and she couldn’t see anything and said it was probably just a cold. Within 24 hours I was in so much pain my Fiance made me go to Urgent Care. They told me it was one of the worst infections they had ever seen and if I had waited, it might have ruptured. Don’t put yourself through it!

@StuporDuck:  Yay!/Duh! I figured that must not have been an option, otherwise you would have gone already.

I hope you feel better soon! I had horrible ear pain with a sinus infection I had a couple months ago and my doctor told me to take decongestants, hot showers to breathe the steam, tylenol for the pain, and heating pad on my face/cheek/ear to help break all the stuff up in there. I’m sure at urgent care they can determine if you have an ear infection or if you just have really clogged sinuses, and then they’ll let you know what to do!
