I have been struggling with my stomach for the past few days and can’t figure out what’s wrong with me. I would appreciate if anyone can help me figure out what’s wrong or give advice on what I can do about it.
Day 1: Woke up to severe nausea and stomach discomfort. Vomited in the morning. Felt nausea and pain all day long. Spent majority of day in bed. Thought I had food poisoning.
Day 2: Felt mildly nauseous all day. Had occasional diarrhea. Had mild stomach pains. Toward the end of the day started feeling bloated and gassy.
Day 3: No more nausea, but feeling very bloated and gassy. Have stomach discomfort similar to indigestion. Occasional diarrhea. Can physically feel stomach rumbling and hear growling all day long. Extreme gassiness all day long.
Have very little appetite all 3 days.
Should I be concerned at all? I’m not used to feeling this much stomach discomfort, and I’m not sure if/when I should be seeking medical attention.

I would imagine that you’ve caught a stomach bug – sounds like norovirus or similar. I’m a teacher and it’s currently going around our school.
Make sure you are well hydrated (water sometimes is harder to keep down – so try gatorade). I’d give it a few more days (since it seems you’re feeling better, rather than worse). If you don’t feel better in the next few days, I’d take a visit to the doctor. Like I said, just stay hydrated and try to eat some toast/crackers. And sleep a ton! Also – stay out of work / public places and lysol everything in your house.

Being that it’s lasted 3 days, I would definitely see a doctor. Hope you feel better!

Yes, you should see the doctor. You can become dehydrated if your not careful. In the worst case scenaio nothing is wrong and its stress related. Feel better.

I’m confused because my symptoms seem to be changing. Does norovirus usually cause bloating and gas?

Best to get it checked out. If you can’t then make sure to drink lots of fluids so you don’t get dehydrated.

Sounds like a gastro. Get lots of fluids and get checked out.

I’ve never had it so I don’t know. I would go to the doctor.

Most people don’t need to see a doctor for diarrhea, gas or bloating unless the pain is more than they can bear ot they are severely dehydrated. It’s relatively easy for adults to keep themselves hydrated if they are not vomiting.
Do the Check Your Symptoms on these topics:
All of the topics have information on home treatment.

I’m not concerned with dehydration, since I haven’t vomited since day 1 and haven’t had diarrhea in over 12 hours now. I’m just trying to figure out what caused all this and how to make it go away.

It does sound like Norovirus to me, however if you have symptoms of dehydration I would see a doctor. Otherwise try a lot of gatorade.

Are you on any hormonal birth control?
I was plauged by similar symptoms for several months. It all went away when I had my Mirena removed.
