Any tips on what you like, for example what fabrics – satin, tulle, organza, lace; what neckline-sweetheart, straps; short dress, tea length, floor length gown; ruching, beading, ruffles….or how you want to feel – sexy, romantic, traditional, modern, fun, etc

Give us something you know you like because there are thousands of different dresses!!!

I’m always going to recommend Essence of Australia/Stella York/Marina Liana for destination weddings. The dresses tend to be lighter weight, possibly because they’re an Australian company and it tends to get hot here.

Here are some that I think would suit:

straps and lace insert are removable so it looks like this:

Generally I think if you want to look taller, simpler silhouettes would be good – like an a-line, slim a-line or fit and flare, but probably not drastic mermaids or really poofy ballgowns. Something with a bit of flare to the skirt will also balance out your top half. Asymettrical details could also work to make you look taller.

I also stayed away from heavy satins and just looked at dresses with chiffon, organza or tulle as I see those as more “beachy” – but that doesn’t mean you can’t wear satin or taffeta if you want to.

@Meant2bMrsC:  seconded. we have sort-of the same frame, and i already have my dress – Allure 8908. I’m 5/3″, 113 pounds, normal hips but round bubble butt with 32C boobs. but, if you don’t like lace, you wouldn’t like my dress! ๐Ÿ™‚

@orchidaloha:  Sexy and beachy – i suggest the below ella 5515…like one of the bees said Stella York (Ella) dresses are light and airy – perfect for beach…this dress was my second choice! I loved it and thought to myself that i would of chose it if i was doing a destination wedding,,,it has a very small train which im sure can be altered to no train. By The Way the dress you posted is pretty too!

@orchidaloha:  I also almost bought Tara Keely 2200 and loved Allure 8814, though it has since been discontinued

@Meant2bMrsC:  I love that darn dress. but Future Mother-In-Law was very vocal about how much she disliked it (hater!) AND it was over budget. -_-

@TwoStatesBride:  ha i only took my mother with me shopping…she had her heart set on the ella 5515 but once she saw me get happy and tear up with the TK, she was all in!!! Your dress is beautiful too, still a great choice! yes it was a little pricey!
