O I am stressed and need your assistance ladies! I’ve got to pick a ring soon and I am totally overwhelmed. I’ve been scouring the internet for hours over the past few weeks and I’m stuck, so maybe you all can help. I like vintage / less traditional rings and am not sold on having a diamond. So far I am drooling over these by Cathy Waterman:
However these are WAY out of our price range. What I really like about all these is the tarnished gold/platinum. I also really like this ring: from Liori, again for its richer color and dark gold. Has anyone seen anything similar to this? How do I search for rings with darker metal (I’m sort of afraid the Liori one might look like costume jewelry and I don’t know how black gold wears). Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Maybe try Fay Cullen? (http://www.faycullen.com/Engagement-Rings/)
I’m not sure what your budget is like though, she is still considered a designer brand but her designs mimic the Cathy Waterman styles and are slightly cheaper.
I think there also may be some jewelers on etsy you can research to find ones that will create one for you and most likely more affordably.

Thanks Aug – I’ve been over there but didn’t see anything similar – it looks like there’s a lot of more art deco type rings. I’d rather not spend over $2000. Does anyone have experience with black rhodium rings? I wonder how they would wear.

Those are incredible!!!! Maybe try Jeff White? He cut my stone and is an incredible gemologist. Not sure how much the finished product would be.. but I bet if you gave him those pics and your budget he could work around it! 🙂
It might be worth calling Jared too. They have a jeweler in house, and the good thing about them, is that they have a lifetime warranty.

I would probably look into the custom route and see what a jeweler can come up with. It’s sometimes a cheaper option.

Have you had any luck with you search? I’m looking for a dark color eternity band with champagne diamonds. Love the rings you found but would also like a cheaper alternative.
