Hi Bees, I’ve just gotten engaged to the love of my life. I am beyond thrilled. He proposed with a very sweet ring, but something not my unique style. So now we have returned that ring, and are having my dream ring designed. I came across a ring photo from another Bee and fell in love. I then contacted a few designers on Etsy to price quote the design. Today I decided to write this Bee with my dream ring to ask about her experince with the actual Etsy designer who she purchased it from. She just wrote me, and shared that after having her ring for a few months, one night the stone popped out…she somehow found the stone and took the ring to a local jeweler. The jeweler told her that the stone had not been set properly and reset it for her much more securely. When she contacted the original designer on Etsy ohmy Christine, Christine was very rude and said that the jeweler was trying to discredit her….not the best way to handle customers in my opinion.
Several years ago I was engaged, a broken engagement by me….Anyways his friends family friend and jeweler designed a very expensive custom Diamond double halo Tiffany copy for me….it was a pricey ring, and within three months my gorgeous diamond fell out, and was nowhere to be found…it was an omen…but at the time I was devastated. Thankfully we had it insured, and it was valued at double so I got a larger diamond replacement…although I returned that ring when I broke off the engagement. Anyways I know that gems can fall out, and I would be devastated again to have the same thing happen.
So Bees any advice for me.
Im considering these options. Purchasing the ring from the designer, but then having a local jeweler check out the setting, to ensure that it’s been set properly. I love Oh My Christine’s designs, but I’d hate to lose my center stone, if she’s truly not setting her stones properly.
Or I could have another designer design the ring. I just need to find a trusted designer. It seems that Etsy is a real gamble. We are in France, so it’s much more complicated to have it designed here. I’ve looked into Bbb gem design, they will custom design, and their work also looks beautiful.
The design I desire is not very complicated, but it’s a trillion without a halo, so it would have to be set very securely. it’s also a morganite, and costs nothing close to the first ring, but I will still get it insured. Although I’m not sure if insurance companies will insure a morganite ring…anyone know?
Ive spoken to Zohadora on Etsy, but have also just read some very bad reviews about them.
Can any of you help me, or suggest a trusted designer.
Ive attached photos of the ring. I have all the specs and angles, so it’s a pretty easy design.
Thanks so much for your help, I’m a bit lost.
