What’s wrong with that one? Just because it has a prom dress label doesn’t mean you can’t wear it– it looks plenty bridal to me. πŸ™‚

I think that would be fine for a wedding dress. I honestly don’t see the problem with buying a ‘prom’ dress for a wedding gown, in fact I may be doing that myself!

i dont think it is innapropriate at all…. I personally dont think it matters if it is labled prom, MOB, or bridesmaids. As long as it is what you are looking for and makes you feel like a bride then go for it.

What aspects of this dress would you change to make it a wedding dress? A train? Fuller skirt? Better material?

@serenitea:  Is there any way you can see it in person?

I think it looks plenty bridal, but I know what you mean about how the quality might be different. FWIW, I was in love with a Jessica McClintock gown for years that was a prom dress, and the quality was similar to what I found in some bridal shops, so it really depends on what you are looking for.

This looks like a pageant style gown to me (back from my undergrad pageant days hahaha), so you could also look there….those gowns are often made quite nice and they really sparkle!!

I think that could be a bridal gown! It doesn’t matter if it says ‘prom’, it definately could be bridal.

Prom dresses don’t have to be cheap! <3

My mom splurged for me on my senior prom. Since I’d gone with really really inexpensive (Think $50 at Dillard’s) dresses for every other high school dance, I went ahead and ordered a $600 prom dress at a boutique in St. Augustine.

It was NOT cheap at ALL. It’s in my old closet at my parents place or I’d pull the label and tell you the designer, but if I remember correctly La Femme isn’t a bad prom company.

This was my $600 prom dress- it honestly felt less cheap to me than a few of the less expensive wedding dresses I first tried on.

That dress you’re looking at definitely looks bridal to me, so I say GO for it!!! πŸ™‚

ETA: Holy CRAP that first pic is HUGEEE. So sorry about that… I’m trying to figure out how to make it smaller. :/

@serenitea:  You are too sweet. <3

Definitely go the store route- you’ll still need some alterations and they’ll be the best people to recommend a seamstress to you.

Also does the La Femme website have a ‘dress finder’ feature or something like that? Usually you can go on the designer’s website and find out what boutiques in your area carry them- once you get the list of people who carry La Femme, you should be able to call around and ask if they’ve already got the dress, provided you know the style number.

ETA: Ha! Went on their website to look around for your dress, and saw mine! Apparently it WAS a La Femme. πŸ˜‰

@serenitea:  That’s a beautiful dress!

@rachelmichelle:  I must agree with  @serenitea:. You ARE gorgeous! And that dress and your jewelry are stunning!

(P.S. If my younger stepdaughter ever finds this thread, no, DSD, that does NOT mean YOU will be getting a $600 prom dress next year. πŸ˜‰
