i know it’s kind of old school but why not do something where the guests sign the matting in a frame.  instead of doing a photograph, maybe you could have someone do some cool graphic design with your names & wedding info, or quotes about love/family/etc.

What about doing squares of fabric with a permanent fabric marker.  After the wedding they could be sewn together and streched onto a frame of your liking as a artistic canvas.  Or maybe a canvas painted in colorblock with fine tip sharpies for people to write their messages on the canvas- it could have directions so that you ask them only to write on certain painted areas with a certain color sharpie.  Like a painting- but the mess is done before hand so no one gets mess on themselves.

You could always just purchase a piece of art that you love and have the guests sign the back. You will know that your guests signatures are on the back but you won’t have to look at them every day. You could have a piece of fibreboard cut to size , tack it into place and paint it to give a good background for the signatures.

We did a wish board, kinn of what you mentioned but we didn’t frame the little paper squares we made a scrapbook out of them and it sets on our coffee table but you could totally get a collage frame and insert them into the spaces if you did 4×6 sqaures for your guests to write notes!  I made a french memo board in our colors and our guests displayed their “wish cards” on the board during our reception – it was a big hit!  We got some really great notes from it ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m having a Quaker marriage certificate done- although it’s not strictly a guest book (as it’s just signatures) it will be hanging up in our house and I love the idea that everyone including children signs as ‘witnesses’ to your marriage.

Also I am a Quaker so it’s got to be done!

What about having guests sign little squares of paper in a certain color (or color scheme) that you want in your home. Then after the wedding you could arrange them all on a canvas and mod podge them on there. You could write a vertical “LOVE” with the squares, or your last name or just the Monogram of your last name if that works.
