A few months ago my dad found these cool lanterns. I mentioned I liked them, and they could make cool centerpieces. Later that day, he came home with a trunk full of different shapes/sizes! So here are my super-duper awesome lanterns 🙂

Since that day, I’ve been on a mission to make my centerpieces work. I’m aiming for an enchanted forest theme, so I think they work perfectly. Here are my plans:

Rose petals (not carnation like shown); white napkins tied with navy blue bakers twine, and a navy blue table runner.
(I just LOVE those little tealight candles. [90 cents for a pack of 4 at Pier 1! Yay, Christmas clearance rack!])
What should I fill the base of the lanterns with? I definitely want something natural. No artifical stones or balls!!

You could do the taller ones with mulch or the bark they use for potted orchids, and the smaller ones with moss.

I think it would be so super cute to have petals inside the lantern as well. I also love love love the moss idea.

Wow what a cool idea! Are you having multiple lanterns at each table? I would mix them up if you are. That’s going to look beautiful!

@julies1949: I’m not sure I’ve seen the bark they use for orchids. I’ll definitely need to look into that.
@ghiagirl893: I thought about doing that! But I deemed it too much of a fire hazard. (Not sure why I don’t consider wood a fire hazard though.. lol) Plus I just like the petals around the base to soften it 🙂
@UltrasoundTech: I would love to have more than one, but the tables aren’t big enough! Plus these suckers are huge. lol They have 8 in wide sides and the tallest is 2 feet high! Here are what the tables look like:

@michiru4ever: That is such a cool inspration picture!! I could probably do real plants.. maybe moss and ferns? I can definitely get a lot from my back yard. .. which is a few hundred acres of woods. lol

I agree with PP on rocks, moss, etc. And if you are doing multiple lanterns at each table, make sure to mix it up for variety.

The mulch would smell SO good! Or the moss.

@OnceUponATime: I like the idea of putting stuff around the outside of the lantern with a large candle inside. I would avoid mulch or anything inside with the lanterns burning…(might be a fire risk?)
