@Kimy: haha, I’m selling them after my wedding if you’re interested ๐ lol!
@saywhat8282: Awee, that would be so so cute! Everything is indoor though, so no trees. :/
@ghiagirl893: Thank you! ๐ We found them on sale at Lowes. I think they were around $12 each. So excited. I can’t believe I’m managing these centerpieces for less than %20 each. That WAY crushes the pricing for flowers ๐ Plus I can resell everything!
@BrandNewBride: I love the smell of mulch too! I think I’m leaning toward the mulch ๐
@weddingbound: Do you think there is too much space inside to leave the base empty? That was my main concern. The candles will be tall enough that it shouldn’t be a fire risk ๐

@OnceUponATime: How large are your tables?……I was thinking that having stuff on the outside might give you more table coverage as well.
I think if you have something one the outside no one will really see the space on the inside….like in the second pic above you can tell that there is space inside the lantern but it still looks pretty. I just like the look personally better with stuff on the outside and find it more visually appealing.

I agree with @weddingbound you don’t want to be putting anything flammable inside the lanterns. It does look a little spare inside, though, so if the candles you’re using don’t quite fill the space inside, you could paint the inside base dark brown or black, or use river rocks. Fresh damp rose petals aren’t too flammable, I think, but that died moss would go up like tinder, and I think even the fumes from cedar mulch would burn.

@OnceUponATime: Oh okay …maybe you glue/paste skeleton leaves on the outside of the lanterns
Of course lanterns are different, but you see how skeleton leaves looks:

@weddingbound: The tables are small-ish oval. If you scroll up I posted a photo earlier. I definitely don’t need extra coverage!
@moara: Oh goodness, I like the thought, but I definitely wouldn’t paint them. The moss would be fresh, not dry! I live in the woods, so I would literally dig it up the night before. lol

@saywhat8282: Woah. Those look so different. I’ve never heard of that species of plant before. Definitely googling right now. lol

@OnceUponATime: Oh ok I see yep tables aren’t huge or anything. I still like the idea of a little visual interest on the outside of the lantern but that’s just me. I am sure either way it will be pretty thou!
