I need some unbiased internet advice. Hayley Paige Dori has been my dream dress for some time and I have the opportunity to purchase it today. I have two private sellers on the table with a significant price difference (About 30%). It should be a no brainer but I have been stressing about it all weekend and need to just pull the trigger today. My wedding is over a year away and I have plenty of time but I have already decided that I won’t pay retail price for the dress and although this dress is often sold (by previous brides) I don’t want to miss out on this opportunity. Both of them are the Alabaster color, which is what I wanted.
I should also say that I will be a two dress bride and I already have my reception dress which is strapless with a sweetheart neckline. It’s mermaid so it’s a completely different style. I have tried on the original and I love it but don’t have any pictures of myself in it. I am a curvy bride with DDs but will make sure if I go with the strapless, it will be appropriate. I am getting married at a venue not a church.
Which style do you prefer? The original top with straps or the custom strapless. Here are the specs for the two…
Original Dori Dress – Sample (Mint condition), correct dress size, too long will need alterations
Josie top, Dori Skirt – Used (professionally cleaned), correct dress size, alterations and bustle already done and the seller is the same height.
I have attached random pictures found on the internet for you to compare if you’re not familiar with the dress.

I prefer the strapless. As a DDD lady myself, I often worry that a high-neck can make the girls look even bigger than they already are.

The strapless is gorgeous! I agree with the high neck making the ladies look bigger. Both are stunning tho!! If you’re wearing your hair up the high neck would look amazing!

I think the strapless looks incomplete. Part of the appeal of the original is the straps!
Plus you already have a strapless dress for the reception. Switch up your look!

I love love love the straps on the first dress! It’s so pretty.

Love the original Dori, especially since your second dress is already strapless. Do it!

I also have DDs and can’t wear anything with a high neck because it makes me look like I have a uniboob. But you have tried on the original dress and love it! I say stick with that. Gorgeous dress!

I think the original one helps lengthen the torso and the strapless one shortens it quite a bit. I love the look of the first dress. I’m a DD and I found that the higher neckline dresses I have actually make my chest look smaller where as the sweethear neckline makes them stick out more.

The strappy top balances out the fuller skirt. Both are gorgeous.

The first, but with the neckline altered to be a v-neck, if possible. I too would be worried about the uniboob effect with the high neck otherwise. But it would be a shame to lose the straps.

Straps looks great. Buy the original and, if you don’t like the neck and/or is causes the uniboob, you can get it altered.
