I love the idea of pearls and elegance. We are having something of a garden/tea party. Our centerpieces are going to be antiqued books in a stack with ribbons and pearls over a mirror with some votive candles provided by our venue so we really want something that will fit. Our favors are hopefully going to be teaspoons tied with ribbon to a Tazo tea bag or hot chocolate packet (for our kiddie guests and those who think tea is just crappy colored water). Which do you think would go best with our theme? I was think of only doing two tiers and the rest would be cupcakes decorated in a similar style since I will be doing my cake myself. I do wedding cakes on the side so it’s not an issue of intricacy, I simply can’t make up my mind! Sorry in advance about the pictures, I’m still learning how to resize…
I thought this would be a cute idea or at least to have macaroons included with our desserts because our last name is McCarron!

@lochnessy: I voted for the last cake. The color is fantastic if you’re going for an antique or vintage look, and the overall look of the cake fits well with your garden/tea party theme and love of pearls and elegance.
The other cakes are nice, but that one blew me away. I can’t stop looking at it now!
Oh, and I love your centerpiece idea! I love to read, so I’d really appreciate seeing something like that as a guest at a wedding. It sounds like you’ll have a lovely reception!

I voted for the first but I love macarons! I would go with whatever will look best when you do it. Are you a pro?

Love the first cake, and I definitely think people will giggle about the macaroons and your name. As for the champagne hue cake, it’s pretty and you can do the flowers ahead of time – so that’s great. Only thing I would be concerned about is the amount of time it would take to attach all the components. I don’t question your ability, as you showed photos of your work in one of my earlier posts, but you know… I guess it’s just that I’m worried myself about how intense the last few days leading up to the wedding will be!
Anyway, whatever you decide upon – please post an update!

WOW what a gorgeous selection! I love all of them!! I voted for the pearl with a frilly base personally but I think any of them would work & look great! My only concern about the macaroon one is that people who don’t know how to spell your new last name might remember this and start spelling it wrong! If everyone already knows it then I say go for it, it’s a cute touch! Maybe you could put some kind of sign calling it the “mccarron cake” and list the flavors or something under it if you did different layers with different flavors? Just something to show that your doing a play on words.

@lochnessy: I love both the first cake and the last cake, but I think they give very different vibes – so it’s just a matter of matching it to the overall vibe of your wedding. The first cake is fun, quirky, offbeat, and has a little bit of a sense of humor (the macaroons/McCarron wit). The last cake is elegant, traditional, reserved, and seems to say, “Chahmed you could make it, dahling.”

All of these look wonderful! I would go with the last cake I feel like the tiny pearl details fit your theme well.
